Yuletide Party! - By the Dorms, Monday Dusk Till Dawn

Between the dorms and preserve, a moderately sized--if only because dragging over more wood than was already stockpiled nearby was far too much work--fire was lit as the sun set and the longest night of the year began. In the main lobby and by the fire there were much larger supplies of spiced cider and ale.

...look, people in ye olde times really liked to get drunk and light things on fire. It was a time honored tradition.

She helped. Sort of. And then leaned against him as she looked at the fire.

He leaned his head lightly on top of hers as he watched the fire too.

A few minutes later, he finally said quietly "Thought y'd be goin' home for Midwinter."

"I don't think the magic that brought me here is that easily repeated," she said after a moment. "What about you?"

He shrugged, careful not to dislodge her. "Me mam didn' say nothin'," he said. "Don' think th' portals come too cheaply."

But he didn't care. Of course not.

Course not. Just like she didn't miss her brothers and sisters. "I've got some coin spare," she murmured.

George half-smiled. "Put it t'better use then, Beka," he advised, squeezing her shoulder lightly. "I've got friends here who don't go home neither. An' there's ye t'spend Midwinter wit'."

"Wasn't thinking of you," Beka scoffed. Not that she was moving away from him.

"Aye, an' ye jus' wanted t'get rid of me then?" he asked lightly.

"Yes, you're obnoxious," she told him, but she was grinning.

"Tis a pity ye like obnoxious," he smirked.

"I just let you believe I do," she mumbled, which made no sense at all.

"Can't fool me, Beka Cooper," George taunted.

"That's what I want you to think," Beka teased him.
