Yuletide Party! - By the Dorms, Monday Dusk Till Dawn

Between the dorms and preserve, a moderately sized--if only because dragging over more wood than was already stockpiled nearby was far too much work--fire was lit as the sun set and the longest night of the year began. In the main lobby and by the fire there were much larger supplies of spiced cider and ale.

...look, people in ye olde times really liked to get drunk and light things on fire. It was a time honored tradition.

And, of course Merlin was there. With a blanket. And sticking close to the fire.

It was either the ale or the cold that had his cheeks warm. Oh yeah, someone allowed him to have booze.

Arthur was no pagan, but he was going to observe the ritual anyway. Mostly to keep an eye on his people - which was Merlin, pretty much, in terms of pagans. But he was there, prodding at the fire.

People in ye modern times were also into getting drunk and lighting stuff on fire.

At least, Effy certainly was.

Once again wrapped up against the cold, she had some of that spiced cider in hand was was warming herself up close to the fire and watching the flames.

Francine wasn't any more pagan than Arthur, but she was hardly going to miss this after Merlin's description of it as a night you spent with loved ones. How many of those could he -- or any of the Camelot kids -- count here, besides each other?

Unlike last night, though, she was dressed for the weather, with a warm jacket under the blanket she'd brought along. Also unlike last night, there was cider.

Azarath traditions weren't entirely dissimilar to pagan beliefs, except for the celebration parts. Either way, Raven was eager to experience her first Yule.

It wasn't Yule they celebrated at home, but Midwinter seemed close enough. The sun was coming back, and even if there weren't the priests and spicebread and rowdiness that went along with a Lower City celebration, George was totally taking the excuse to hang out by the fire.

She'd been on her way back from Emma's party when the light drew Beka's attention. It wasn't too hard to make George, the firelight playing across his face, and Beka picked her way towards him.

She said naught and simply sat down, slinging an arm around her shoulders. Mayhap it had to do with her conversation with Kennedy while standing in the middle of tinsel. Mayhap it had naught to do with it.

Much like Beka, Karla was also drawn to the fire coming back from Emma's party. Pleasantly warm and in no hurry to go to bed, Karla sauntered over to see who was around.

It wasn't Windsol, but the different midwinter holiday festivities went a long way towards soothing some of the regret away.

Helen wasn't at all sure what this was about, but she did rather like bonfires so she thought she would check it out. She nodded and smiled shyly at Merlin, who did not seem to have an owlet hiding under his shirt tonight.

Owain was safely back in his room, most likely trying to kill something. He was so adorable and violent.

Wrapped in several layers of sweaters and scarves, Tara clutched her cider with both hands and tried to stay warm and contemplative.

Privately, she was wishing Wiccan holidays were a little warmer.

Jonothon wasn't exactly the most social creature on the island, no. But this was... Well. It was a fire. A large enough one to more or less hide the smell of him. He could hang around by a large-ish fire all hours of the night without getting particularly twitchy, he figured.

He'd even brought his guitar. To make exciting, unplugged 'plink plink' sounds with, mostly.

After stopping by Emma's party for a while, an already somewhat-buzzed Kennedy snagged a mug of cider and staked out a comfortable spot by the fire. She hadn't had any classes on Mondays all semester anyway, but despite that it was more awesome anyway, knowing they were out of class for a couple of weeks.

Didi didn't seem especially cold as she sat by the fire, hovering near Jono but not so much as to be That Girlfriend. Mostly, she was enjoying the cold and the night on this longest day.

Tonight, Morgana was actually dressed to be outside, although she still sat as close to the fire as she safely could. The cider was certainly worth the chill.

Angela was not so much participating. No, she was a good little Christian who was here to see just how much she had to disapprove of the heathens. There was drinking, too. With fire. When someone set themselves ablaze, she would be here to say I Told You So.

She hadn't actually told anyone so yet, but that was not the point.
