Yuletide Party! - By the Dorms, Monday Dusk Till Dawn

Between the dorms and preserve, a moderately sized--if only because dragging over more wood than was already stockpiled nearby was far too much work--fire was lit as the sun set and the longest night of the year began. In the main lobby and by the fire there were much larger supplies of spiced cider and ale.

...look, people in ye olde times really liked to get drunk and light things on fire. It was a time honored tradition.

"Ooh, you could help!" Yes, that would be a brilliant idea.

"I could!" A beat. "...how?"

Oh sure, make her think of all the details. "Well, you could--" Not the cooking, no. "Um. You could help me pick out a dress?"

"I can do that!" He'd just pick the one that showed off her breasts best.

That.... might possibly be the way to go, to Francine's way of thinking. "Something nice, but not too nice. I mean.... not church clothes but not the kind of thing you'd wear to dance around a pole? Somewhere in between."

"I can so help with that. I've seen you in both!"

...not helping, Merlin.

"....Maybe a little closer to the pole than the church, though. I mean at this point the next step is Saran wrap, a Christmas ribbon and a Post-It note that says Please Do Me."

She'd been hitting the cider on the way back with the cider, yes.

"I still think you should kiss her breathless." It was a good way to say 'why yes, I would like to have sex now'.

"I keep .... sputtering out when I try that. Like I'm fine for a few seconds and then I start thinking and I get all self-conspicuous." No, no, something wasn't right there. "Self-conscience?"

Merlin scooted closer to her. Because snuggling was a appropriate response, what? "Whhhhyyy?"

In some universe, it was! ...Possibly the one that Merlin and Francine inhabited, let's face it. "'Cause." See? It was so simple!

Oh no, maybe not. "'Cause she's a girl, and I just ... it's still weird, and I feel dumb, like people are watching and they'll laugh at me if I get it wrong." Or tell on her. To... somebody.

"Took me aaaages to get to that point with Arthur. Kept--" Merlin flailed one hand about in a circle. "--pushin' myself and getting further each time."

"I can't--" Something --- probably the cider -- made Francine balk at finishing any sentence she'd started that way. "I don't think I can keep pushing. Not all by myself."

"Didja tell her?"

Sometimes have you talked to her just doesn't help at all, no matter how right it might be.

"Not like ... no. I can't. It's too... I mean kissing makes me feel dumb. Talking about it is just aaaaaghaghaahaha." That had hand gestures that went with it. Cider-sloshy hand gestures.

"I could!"

...dear god NO.

".....DEAR GOD NO!"

Separated at birth, yes.

Merlin pouted. "It might help."

"Not if I'm dead of shame!"
