2nd Floor Common Room -- Monday Early Evening

Hinata had figured that even if Warren was more than pleasant about dealing with Yei, that it was only good manners to remove herself (and her cat) from the room at intervals just so he could spend longer than kitten could nap without Yei attempting to stalk and play with his feathers.

Yei was a bit sulky about this move it had to be admitted. She liked the feathers.

At least, until Hinata rolled a brightly coloured ball with bells in it across the floor of the common room and all thoughts of feathers disappeared from Yei’s head as things quickly reoriented themselves, in Yei's view of the world, to ‘Omigod it's moving--moving. My ball! After it! Miiine! HI BALL!’. And a fuzzy white kitten went stampeding after the ball as if it were the best thing ever.

For her part, Hinata contented herself with a book and keeping an eye on Yei.

Elena was just walking back, on her way to her room, when she happened to poke her head in and spot the attack-kitty.

Awwwwwwwwww.

This required a quick detour three flights up.

When she returned, she had a squirmy gray fuzzball in her arms.

"Playdate?" she asked, by way of introduction.

Hopefully the other kitten liked to make friends?

Yei would love to make friends! As soon as she noticed which might take just a tiny bit here as she was busy being all Brave and Fierce and the Ball Kept Moving (which meant she had to Go After It and maybe the other kitten would want to help her?).

Hinata looked up, a smile lighting her face at the sight of the other girl with her cat.

"Absolutely," she said, closing her book and holding the place with her fingers. "I could not refuse an invitation like th-that. Yei would never forgive me."

Rookie wriggled excitedly in Elena's hands, and since the other girl seemed okay with it, Elena leaned over to let her kitten jump free. Once out of her hands, Rookie was tearing off to chase the ball. And sniff at the other kitten. Sniff! Sniff sniff sniff! Friend?

"Hi," she said. "Yei's your kitten? She's very pretty."

Hey hey hey there was another kitten. Yei blinked over the ball, promptly went tumbling over paws and wound up staring up at the other kitten and mewed interestedly as she sniffed.

Friend! HI FRIEND! And so, she was just going to wriggle around and bat at the other kitten's paws. Hiiiii.

Hinata laughed softly. "She's very silly," she amended, "but yes, Yei's mine as much as anyone owns a cat. Yours is lovely as well. Wh-What's her name if you don't mind me asking?"

"Hi, Elena," Didi grinned. "Your cat is also totally adorable, by the way."

"Hi!" Elena said. "Aww, thank you. She's my first pet, so I'm still scared I'm going to mess things up somehow."

She wasn't sure how, but there probably was a way. And if so, leave it to her to find it.

Bruce was still in the process of investigating everything in the town. That included the common rooms.

Apparently pets were allowed in the dorms. That was new information.

"Good evening," he said to the girls in the room. And the cats. "Am I allowed in even if I don't have a pet?"

"Evening," Elena said. "Do you have a cat? She could join the playdate."

"I don't, no," Bruce said. "That's not going to be a problem, is it?"

Hinata smiled.

"Anyone is allowed," she assured him. "The cats just make it m-more cozy."

"So it seems," Bruce said, putting on a friendly smile. "Do a lot of people in the dorms have pets?"

"I hope so," Didi told the new boy. "Otherwise I'd have to climb up to three to get my goldfish and the tank's a little heavy."

"You don't keep a small bowl for carrying the fish around?" Bruce asked. It was mostly a joke. Part of it was a reasonable suggestion, though.

Spock happened to be passing by when he noted the presence of kittens in the common room. He chose to investigate.

"Good evening," he said from the doorway where he stood, ramrod straight with his hands folded behind his back.

"Good evening," she answered, observing the way he stood and figuring that polite (though Hinata was rather polite anyway) was the way to go. "W-Would you like to come in and sit for a while? The kittens are friendly."

"Yes, I am aware of this fact about one of them," Spock said, eying Rookie in case she decided to attack Spock's shoe as per usual. "We share living quarters." He stepped into the room and sat down stiffly in one of the chairs.

"Let me guess," Elena laughed. "You missed me so much over break that you had to follow me down here."

Look, if you couldn't tease your roommate, why even have one?

"While I must confess I did find over the break that I have become accustomed to your presence, my happening by this room was purest chance, I assure you."

Too bad her roommate was a Vulcan. Or did that just make it more fun?

"Good evening," Didi echoed, glancing up. "You could relax, you know. You're allowed."

Spock raised one eyebrow at her. "'Relax' is variable."

"Same to you," Bruce said. This guy made him look relaxed. "You're allowed in even without a pet, if that's concerning you at all."

Bruce was curious how this guy would react to a joke.

"To be quite honest, I was not concerned," Spock said. "However, were it a concern, the pet of my roommate is present, and as we share living quarters, I believe an argument could be made on that basis."

Didi watched the kitten from the door for a moment, then stepped into the room and started wiggling her fingers, trying to get the kitten to pounce. "Cute cat," she informed the room. "Who's she belong with?"

Hinata lifted one hand, laughing softly.

"If you mean the wh-white one," she called, "then I'm with her. Her name is Yei."

For her part, Yei was going to tumble and roll over that ball and wind up blinking at the fingers being wriggled in her direction. Fingers! She got up eagerly, ears perked forward as she went to investigate. HI HI FINGERS!

"Hi Yei," Didi said, letting the kitten sniff at her fingers. "You're a happy little fuzzball, huh?"

"My name is Didi," she added, glancing up. "Thanks for letting the room borrow your cat."
