2nd Floor Common Room -- Monday Early Evening
Hinata had figured that even if Warren was more than pleasant about dealing with Yei, that it was only good manners to remove herself (and her cat) from the room at intervals just so he could spend longer than kitten could nap without Yei attempting to stalk and play with his feathers.
Yei was a bit sulky about this move it had to be admitted. She liked the feathers.
At least, until Hinata rolled a brightly coloured ball with bells in it across the floor of the common room and all thoughts of feathers disappeared from Yei’s head as things quickly reoriented themselves, in Yei's view of the world, to ‘Omigod it's moving--moving. My ball! After it! Miiine! HI BALL!’. And a fuzzy white kitten went stampeding after the ball as if it were the best thing ever.
For her part, Hinata contented herself with a book and keeping an eye on Yei.
[Ooopen as common rooms are, yes!]

Awwwwwwwwww.
This required a quick detour three flights up.
When she returned, she had a squirmy gray fuzzball in her arms.
"Playdate?" she asked, by way of introduction.
Hopefully the other kitten liked to make friends?

Hinata looked up, a smile lighting her face at the sight of the other girl with her cat.
"Absolutely," she said, closing her book and holding the place with her fingers. "I could not refuse an invitation like th-that. Yei would never forgive me."
no subject
"Hi," she said. "Yei's your kitten? She's very pretty."
no subject
Friend! HI FRIEND! And so, she was just going to wriggle around and bat at the other kitten's paws. Hiiiii.
Hinata laughed softly. "She's very silly," she amended, "but yes, Yei's mine as much as anyone owns a cat. Yours is lovely as well. Wh-What's her name if you don't mind me asking?"
no subject
"I think all kittens are silly," Elena laughed. "It's part of the job description. Her name's Rookie, and mine's Elena. I don't think we've met, have we?"
no subject
Tails moved. They were awesome.
"My apologies for not asking your n-name," she said, flushing slightly. "We haven't met as far as I recall, but I am Hinata. It is a pleasure to meet you." Accompanied with that was a bob of her head and shoulders that gave the impression that, had she been standing, there would have been a shallow bow. Embarrassment did that to her. "I s-suppose all kittens are rookies in a way?" she said lightly. "As th-they are still learning."

This was interrupted by Rookie realizing she needed to scramble up and really, really smell all of Yei's face. She hadn't gotten all of the eyebrows before, and those things are vital.
"Oh, don't worry about it," Elena said easily. "Nice to meet you, too. And back home, I'm in a group where the new member is always the Rookie, so a friend suggested it. What does 'Yei' mean?"
no subject
Weeeell if Rookie was going to be all In Her Face then Yei was just going to stick her face at Rookie's chest. HA. Face in Chest. And inspecting. This was serious stuff here. Very Serious.

Omnomnom. Other kitties tasted good!
"Oh, that's pretty," she said, easing into a chair, eyes still watching to her kitten. She wasn't feeling protective: she just got transfixed by the cute now and then.
She colored slightly at realizing it, and turned her eyes back to Hinata. "Flourishing. Has she been flourishing?"
no subject
Besides, watching the kittens was an absolutely valid excuse for distraction.
"She has been," Hinata answered. "At least, so far as anyone can tell. I cannot talk to her and have her answer in words."
Yei was starting to think the whole face-in-chest thing had been a bad idea since it severely limited her options when Rookie started tasting her. But--AH HA. Stomach fur was ticklish, yes yes? Especially when little whiskers went nosing about!
no subject
There was only one answer to that: Rookie was going to FLOP onto her back! And wave her paws in the air! And ... and wave them! Look! The waving!
no subject
Clearly subdued had a fairly wide definition when you were a kitten.
"Th-That's been my theory," she laughed softly. "And so far it seems to be working. She's been with me for a little while now--have you had Rookie long?"

She wasn't sure how, but there probably was a way. And if so, leave it to her to find it.

Wasn't that the point?

"So what did you make of Algren's class today?"
