Second floor common room, Saturday afternoon

After spending the morning reading celebrity gossip mags online, Priestly was all set to be a little more social. He put his kilt on over a pair of ripped jeans, used every dye color in his collection to achieve a banded technicolor mohawk (and a little bit of stripe on his goatee), put in a call to Dinah, and hit the common room to whip up a couple hot subs.

After all, if he was going to go about setting fashion trends, he needed to have something that might draw people in, right?

Yeah, and okay, he was pretty hungry to boot. What? He was a growing teenage boy.

"I must have missed them." And he didn't regret it. "It's probably a good thing, though. I've never seen sentient...food before and I think it would have scared me."

Dinah gave him a sympathetic look, wings slowly opening and closing. "Yeah. They were pretty unnerving, even when we realized how slow they were. Did you change at all, that one weekend when people were being extra weird?"

Jonas shook his head, looking grateful about that. "I was witness to it but I myself remained the same. I've heard it can happen to you once and then miss you the next time."

"Yeah, it missed me that weekend. Then I got hit with a love spell later in that same week. Wow, was that stupid and embarrassing." Dinah was mostly amused about it now, though. Worse had happened since. "I'm glad you haven't had to deal with that, though."

"A love spell?" Jonas asked. "I don't know if I saw anyone who was exposed to that. What happened?"

Dinah turned red, and laughed. "Okay, so, 'Dite had these love potions in her shop, and someone who was gremlin-bitten and a little crazy? Poured them all over pastries and served them to the cast of the play. So, the next guy I saw-- who was Sam Winchester-- I totally decided I was completely in love with him. And he had some too, so... we were pretty silly and uh, kissy, for a few days there." It had actually been kind of fun, in retrospect, but that was just knowing it would be over at the end. At the time, not so fun.

Jonas bit his lower lip, looking a little sheepish and then said, "I hope you don't take this the wrong way but I understood very little of what you just said. The words, yes, but not the context. And it's not your fault, either. I don't have a...precedence for a lot of these situations."

Dinah facepalmed, then laughed. "Where did I lose you? Love potions?"

"Love potions are very new for me, yes," he said, nodding. "I didn't know you could bottle a feeling like that."

"I don't know if it's magic or chemistry, but yeah, it works. At least it works here." Dinah shook her head, still pink-cheeked. "For a bunch of people. Although we all acted a little different. My friend Jack got a crush on Priestly," she nodded to him, "And he wasn't nearly as goofy as I was." Aside from the hair color choice. "And one of the teachers was pretty blase' about the person he loved not wanting him back. I would've been crushed if Sam hadn't liked me back."

"And it truly made you all believe it was real, actual love?" Jonas asked. "Not just lust?"

"Really," Dinah confirmed. "I mean, that was part of it, sure. And... Sam's a good kisser. But I was ready to marry the poor guy. Totally convinced that everything he said and did was the most awesome thing ever, and that we were meant to be together. Forever." She snorted. "I practically sang at him, I was so dizzy."

"That's startling," he said but he didn't sound angry. Just curious and awed. "I didn't know it was so easy to recreate via chemistry."

"Probably the magic too," Dinah said. "And maybe only for 'Dite." Which she so didn't want to explain much. She leaned on the counter, thinking. "It wasn't totally like the real thing. I think. I've only been half-in-love. Maybe. And that was a lot ... saner."

"I've never..." He shook his head. "No one's loved me. I love my brother but that's it."

Jonas suspected Gabe loved him but Gabe didn't really have that knowledge yet or the drive to say the words.

"No one?" Dinah said, trying to conceal her concern. "I mean, not just in-love, but love?" She bit her lip. "Sorry, that's prying... What's your brother like?"

"Young." Jonas smiled, glad that she'd changed subjects to something he did love. "He's three. I don't think he really understands the concept of love just yet."

"Awwww. Well, he may not get it, but I bet he feels it." Dinah grinned. "Three's plenty big enough to like and love someone best of anyone they know. I bet he feels that way about you. I know I got it, when I was four or so." And loved her mom best of anyone. Ever.

"I suppose." He didn't sound so sure. "His exposure to the feeling was as limited as mine. I don't know if he knows what it is either."

Dinah wasn't quite sure what to say to that, but tenatively asked, "But you're learning about it here? Bits of it, anyway? Maybe?"

"It's difficult to learn about that from books and education," he admitted, shrugging. "I'm doing the best I can, though."

"Well, yeah. But.. I mean, friends are part of that too. First step and all. Did you have friends, back where you used to live?" She wasn't about to call that place home, if it gave him so little idea of what love was.

"Somewhat." He was hesitant to call Asher a friend considering Asher and he were both kept under such a heavy cloak of unknowing for so long. "I didn't love any of them. And they didn't love me. We didn't know what it was so it was impossible."

"Ohhh." Dinah was quiet a minute, thinking about it. "Well, I can tell you one thing? Love potions, bad idea. That's not the way to learn about it." She gave him a rueful smile. "And I think it's a little different for everyone."

"I promise to avoid love potions if I can," he said, nodding. "I wouldn't want to learn about something so important the wrong way."
