The Salle, Monday Morning

It ws morning, it was Monday, and Arthur was in the salle, going over the edge of his own sword to make sure it was still decent for actual combat. Sure, sharpening the thing wasn't strictly his job, but he liked to make sure just in case something showed up.

He was also still mildly cranky over the phone thing, but it wasn't like mildly cranky and Arthur were strange bedmates.

Roy would decide that for himself after he checked it out, but, "See, I would prefer outside, but then someone walks in front of the target because people are idiots and you're an ER legend just like that."

"A what?" Arthur said, caught himself, failed to give the answer the amount of space it needed to be answered, and continued, smoothly, "When the snow has lessened, it would make more sense. Provisions for long-range weapons are rather different around here."

"ER? Emergency room?" Roy asked. They called it something different in England, didn't they? Right. "Not many people coming in with arrow wounds, you know?" At least, not in ERs outside of Star City... "Yeah, I guess that makes sense. Little island, not a lot of space." Maybe he'd need to go to the mainland to practice for real. Crap.

"We make do," Arthur said, shrugging once. "But yes, I've heard that about your time. I've often thought about getting myself a gun, but I've never moved past the crossbow."

His time. Right then. "I've never used a gun." Actually, it was a thought. He'd lost enough muscle mass that he wasn't up to his usual pull weight at the moment, which meant A) a lot of weightlifting and B) his bow was very lonely. He didn't want to lose his eye and have to work to get his aim back, too.

"I've used one once or twice," Arthur said, casually. "I still prefer the crossbow or a bow in a pinch, but they are handy." A beat. "And you would be...?"

"Roy Harper." He offered his hand. "Pleased to meet you."

[bitchprince]

"Arthur Pendragon," he said, taking it. "Likewise. I suppose. Any time you're planning to try out that bow?"

Arthur Pendragon. Right. Why the hell not? "I have to get back in shape before I can get full draw," Roy said matter-of-factly. Arthur might notice that he looked kind of like crap. "Might be a while. I'm just getting the lay of the land right now."

"Right," Arthur said, with a raise of his brow. "Gotten injured lately?"

"No," Roy said, and didn't offer any more information on the subject.

[bitchprince]

"Right."

He considered Roy for another moment or so.

"Well, it's none of my business," Arthur said, finally. "But come find me when you're up for it. I'd like to see if you're any good."

Roy thought about telling Arthur it was actually none of his business how good Roy was, then remembered that he was trying to be less of a jerk. "I'll think about it."
