The Salle, Monday Morning

It ws morning, it was Monday, and Arthur was in the salle, going over the edge of his own sword to make sure it was still decent for actual combat. Sure, sharpening the thing wasn't strictly his job, but he liked to make sure just in case something showed up.

He was also still mildly cranky over the phone thing, but it wasn't like mildly cranky and Arthur were strange bedmates.

Arthur was going to pinch the bridge of his nose, yes.

"But that doesn't mean I don't love you."

And that managed to come out without any pauses at all.

"It's fine if you don't," Merlin added quickly. "I mean. If you don't. It would be expected."

He nodded once. There should probably be... something, you said after that.

He opened his mouth, then shut it again.

In the end, he wound up taking a glance around the room and taking a surreptitious moment to touch Merlin's hand, instead.

Which was more than Merlin had taken to expect from him in public. He ducked his head down, just nodding.

Arthur cleared his throat.

Call this his version of sexual anxiety. Seriously. Feelings.

He flashed Merlin a quick, genuine smile.

"... but I do still have some marshmallows left over." Look. Action. Comfortable.

"If you're up for it," Arthur said, with a slight incline of his head. "I mean, I realise giving you sugar is just begging for trouble, but I'm willing to run the risk just this once."
