5th floor common room - Morning

Jacob had woken up to a lot of snow, a powerless dormitory and a growling stomach. The latter two had cause a problem because cornflakes were just cornflakes and Jacob wanted to more. The blizzard hadn't caused much of an obstacle, not when you could change into a werewolf built to brave cold weather. He'd been across the island in a flash and while he'd gotten some strange looks for showing up in just a pair of jeans at J,GOB, the baker hadn't asked any questions. Which was once more evidence of how much the people on the island had gotten used to situations like this and luckily, the bakery had a back up generator. So Jacob had gotten a huge bag full of pastries for 'those poor students'. He suspected that J,GOB hadn't really been expecting a whole lot of customers.

So now, said bag had been upended on the dinner table. The bag itself had been thrown into the bin in Jake's room. It wouldn't do to have anyone take notice of the teeth marks on it. Jacob lay sprawled upon the couch in just a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, his hair still a little wet, while he munched on a muffin. In his boredom, he might just end up eating his way through the stack of food.

Best not to let him stay bored.

Bruce wandered into the common room wearing a nice, warm turtleneck. He didn't look terribly uncomfortable but, then again, he didn't show emotion very often at all. "Is there any coffee?" he asked.

"Nope," Jacob replied, "but if you don't mind setting it the old fashioned way, I'm not going to stop you."

"I don't actually know how to make coffee by hand," Bruce mused. He was going to have to look into that. "Are the pastries at least warm?"

Jacob was just going to give Bruce a look now. "No, but you're free to hold them into the fire if you'd rather. They're fresh."

"Now I'm sorry I don't have marshmallows to share with everyone," Bruce said. "Aren't you cold at all?"

He had no way of knowing that everyone had been asking Jacob that for a solid two weeks.

If Jacob would bother to put more clothes on, he wouldn't have to deal with the question so it was his own damn fault, really.

"Nah, it's fine in here. The fire's a nice touch," he replied. "I think there might be marshmallows in the kitchen. Those cupboards are pretty full."

"Maybe later," Bruce said. "For now I'll just have one of the pastries. I won't be holding it in the fire, though. This sweater's a little loose, and I won't really want to risk setting myself on fire."

But he'd be able to handle it if he did that.

"Probably smart," Jacob quipped. "You'd be warm for a moment, but I think the rest would pretty much suck."

"It would be just as bad for anyone crazy enough to drag me to the clinic," Bruce said. "At least I wouldn't feel any frostbite."

"Which is why it's a good thing you're not going to try it," Jacob said. Going out as werewolf was one thing, having to drag someone through it was quite another. He'd rather avoid it.

"There might be fireplace hot cocoa soon?" Didi said, eying the elements for such where they sat on the counter. "Does that help at all?"

"It'll do," Bruce said. "I think the 'hot' part is more important than whatever the drink actually is."

"That's about how I feel too," Didi agreed. "Though cocoa gets points for actually being chocolate."

She added, "Do you get blizzards like this a lot where you're from?"

"Not really. We'll usually get one or two pretty bad snowstorms every year, but this is worse than what I'm used to," Bruce said. "Then again, there's a lot here that's just a little more extreme than what I'm used to."
