4th Floor Common Room [Monday Night]

Proto was hungry. That meant it was time to raid the common room for food!

At the moment he was sitting on couch surrounded by a couple of dozen boxes of assorted junk food. Twinkies, cereal (with marshmallows), crackers, cookies, more cereal (this time no marshmallows), cupcakes, oatmeal cream pies, and at least three or four things that were simultaneously unidentifiable and obviously past their expiration date.

What? The boy was hungry. And it's not like he knew how to cook.

Proto's eyes flashed completely dead for a split-second before returning to their normal expression. "We have it back home." Then, almost too low to hear, "Damn witches."

Proto cocked his head, considering that. "And how do you deal with them?" he asked. It was a test of sorts. One intended to see just how similarly they thought.

"License them and let them be, as long as they don't hurt honest people," Jack answered promptly (And accurately, at least in terms of facts.) "They have their uses. What do you do with them?"

"They're far too dangerous to be a nuisance." Proto made a face. "Just like any other enemy: it's best to take them out before they can get to you." Or, perhaps more importantly, someone you cared about.

"Lucky." The comment was off-handed, and Proto accompanied it with a one-shouldered shrug. "Next you're gonna tell me you're not from the middle of a war zone," he tossed in with a teasing sort of smirk.
