Third floor common room, Friday night

Okay, so Priestly was totally just wandering through common rooms to look for a snack. But someone had left the TV on and he stopped in the middle of the room, entranced.

There were punks on the screen. Tap dancing. With violins. Wearing torn up kilts with combat boots.

And holy crap, their shoes were throwing sparks.

This was the kind of sporty showmanship he could get behind.

[ooc: as [livejournal.com profile] just_add_starch said, I had to. Post is open. Migrated since I didn't spot that other common room post earlier. . . .]

Momoko was hungry and wandered into the common room hoping someone on the best floor ever was making something and could be convinced to share. Her attention, however, was diverted by the tv as soon as she walked in.

"What on earth is that?" She asked, slightly awed and slightly afraid at the same time. It seemed like it was a musical performance but, "that is totally... uhm..."

weird? stunning? insane?
heromaniac: (eh? huh.)

"That's Canada?!" Momoko really had no idea what Canada was like, but it always seemed so... quiet? She rarely heard about it on tv, and no good shows were ever based there. "What is that? I mean, I know it's music, but what kind?"

It was catchy, the music, but a bit overpowering.

"huh." Momoko took a seat and stared at the tv - in other words, her usual reaction to being in the room with one. "I've never heard of a country called Celtia. So this is their punk music? It's totally different from what I'm used to. Are there words?" She totally couldn't tell.

Momoko laughed. "Now that's the one thing that's the same as our punk music! I'm not really a fan, but I've heard some of it. I totally prefer pop. the dancing is kind of cool, though."

"It totally depends on the group! I can totally tell the difference. But at least you can understand the words and usually you can sing along to it."

"If it's a good romantic song, sometimes I find myself singing it all day?" Momoko raised an eyebrow. "Or, like, one from a soundtrack of a really great show and the music just totally reminds me of it. I like that pop music reminds me of different things in life!"
heromaniac: (uhm what)

Huh?

"Isn't all music manufactured? How else does it get to the store?" She didn't really understand what he meant. "Well, except for the live concerts, of course."

Dinah was wandering in late too, wearing a mish-mash of pajama bottoms and sweatshirt, and had to stop to boggle. "Holy wow. That's unbelievable."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2010-02-13 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
"We'll make Tony take us to the good parts!" Dinah perched on the couch, looking around like saying his name would summon him. "Whoa, look at the leaves, and those fiddles."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2010-02-13 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
"And the tatts!" Dinah was leaning forward and seriously considering her stance on self-decoration. Maybe she wanted one on her back...? "Wow, that sleeve is cool and he's so fast. They're all amazing, but, dude..."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2010-02-13 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Completely. I mean, that's Olympic-level dancing, there." Dinah watched more of the girls in kilts whirl around the guys, feet flashing faster and faster, and then grinned as another fiddle-player came out and practically broke the stings. "I would never, ever be able to do that. Well. Maybe. But they have to have been doing that with some serious dedication."

Dinah's jaw dropped, and she slid down to sit on the couch, still not taking her eyes off the screen. "Whoa." She grinned over at Priestly. "We could get a portal there. I'm sure of it. And sleep on the streets while we tried to break into the games?"

"And we are supposed to go somewhere warm, but... look! Ooooooooo."

The 'oooo' was as the lights went down, and a golden prairie hologram with one guy standing in the middle of it started. And then Joni Mitchell started to sing.

"...Oooooo."
