Okay, so Priestly was totally just wandering through common rooms to look for a snack. But someone had left the TV on and he stopped in the middle of the room, entranced.

There were punks on the screen. Tap dancing. With violins. Wearing torn up kilts with combat boots.

And holy crap, their shoes were throwing sparks.

This was the kind of sporty showmanship he could get behind.

"Point," Dinah conceded. "We need what, at least four?" She grinned. "Then we can actually hold races, woooo!"

"Well, that'll get you your pivot and your jammer, but you'd still need a pack. And it's not a race."

"And clearly, I do not know enough about derby to be any kind of help on this," Dinah said cheerfully. "How many do you need? And if it's not a race, what is it?"

On the screen, the Prime Minister of Canada was talking. In French. Dinah ignored him.

"I dunno, five or six? And it's . . . I mean it's race like, but the jammers are the ones who score points, so the others are all there to block the jammers from getting around."

"Okay, so only the jammers count when they race around, and then you have blockers, and you know, with Fandom people, this could be really intense." Dinah propped her feet up on the coffee table. "And cool!"

"Aaaaaaaand potentially super dangerous." Something to consider.

Well, yes. "And cool! Ooo..." Now they were lighting the Olympic torch. Also cool. "What sport would you want to win, if you made the Olympic team?"

"I'd want to, like, add other games. Like Olympic beach lounging."

"Oooo. Best tan? Best sleep in the sun? Best checking out people from behind sunglasses?" Dinah checked, smiling.

"This is true. What's the record? Four days? Five?" She grinned. "We can find out when we go to the Bahamas, I guess."

"Well, I mean, that's not constant sun. Except maybe in Alaska in something. In which case, brrrrr."

"Now I want to look that up and find out how cold it is when you've got 24 hours of sun," Dinah said, distracted. "There has to be a listing somewhere-- oh cool."

k.d. lang was taking the podium as the lights went down, and several thousand electric candles lit up.
