Fifth Floor Common Room, Saturday Evening
Hurley wasn't really throwing a 'party', per se. If it was a party, it'd be a 'let's stay inside and away from the creepy monsters' party. But really, it was just Hurley making waffles in the fifth floor common room, with the TV showing some roller derby movie.
He'd happily give waffles to anyone. Waffles were best shared, after all. And on a week like this... everybody deserved something nice. Waffles were what Hurley had to give, that night.

"Yay waffles. What did you and Hoshi do while hangin'?"
Because questions meant she wasn't brooding.

He was totally blushing a little.

Ino was, possibly, the pot calling the kettle black here. All things considered.

"You want powdered sugar or whipped cream on top?" he asked.

Suuugar.
"It's just a matter of communication and trust ain't it, though?"

"Yeah, I guess. But I think that's more for... serious stuff, I guess?" He walked over, to hand her the plate and a fork. "And I'm definitely not ready for serious again."

In which case, if he was, Ino was going to throw the waffle, plate, and fork at him and stalk out of the room, yes.

He definitely wasn't planning on it.
"But yeah. I mean, she's not interested, like I said. Just... making that clear I guess."
He was fussing because he was interested, really.
