Third floor Common Room- Wednesday afternoon

Jaina had managed to heal up the soreness and most of the bruising from Sunday, though she'd learned it was not yet time to get rid of the sling. Nor was it a reason to say she was going to try training just a little bit.

It'd been a rough lesson, let's say that.

So without training to do and no classes today, she was in the common room in front of the TV. Somehow she'd stopped on a Maury episode, and while she meant to change the channels, she was left staring at the people's reactions to all the paternity test results.


[What, I love those eps. Open like a common room, with a warning that I'm home sick and sleep would be awesome if I could manage it.]

Ben had ditched his sling but was still not up to full speed on his workouts either.

"What are you watching?" he asked, flinging himself onto a sofa.

"Some guy telling a lot of other guys they're not anyone's father," she said, looking up at him. "I have no idea why I'm still watching."

"Is that because he's the dad?" Ben replied, looking confused. "I didn't know kids randomly showing up was a planet-wide problem."

"No, he's the one running the talk show. There are a lot of women showing up on these things needing paternity tests. It's a little like a speeder wreck," she reasoned.

Ben blinked. "They don't know how they got pregnant?"

"Hello, Ben," Leto said, smiling at the boy. "I see you survived the weekend."

"In one piece, even," Ben replied with a grin. "Well, more or less. How have you been, Leto?"

[future_sandworm]

"Oh, not bad," Leto replied. "At least I wasn't a tree during this BDE but that was only because my mun was too tired to post it" "I'm trying to make the most of the time I have left here." Not really. He was thinking too much about the future and feeling restless.

"You graduate in a few months, then?" Ben said, looking a little disappointed.

"Be-en!" Karla called, waving at him. Like he wasn't all of two feet away or something. "I followed you here!"

That hadn't supposed to come out quite that creepy. Sorry.

"Stalker!" Ben said with a laugh. "Hello!"

"Not a stalker!" Karla protested. "I'm just a...a follower! Of you! Today!"

Not helping your case, babe.

She plunked herself down on the couch next to him, overbalancing a bit and nearly landing on him. "Oops!" she giggled. "The couch moved."

Ben blinked. "Have you found glitterstim or something?"

Leto entered the common room, mostly looking for company to distract him. Whatever was on the TV didn't seem interesting, but he took a seat on the couch in front of it anyway.

"Are you watching this?" he asked Jaina.

"I seem to be," she said, sounding confused by this. "If you want to change it, though, you'd probably be saving all of us."

"There is nothing in particular I want to watch," Leto replied. "It seems like whatever is on the TV always gets more attention than it deserves." He smiled a little. "How have you been?"

"Fought a bunch of lizards, now it's back to real life," she said with a wry smile. She almost missed stuff like fighting lizards being real life. "How about yourself?"

"Enjoying the peace and quiet of Fandom before going home." Yes, he was being ironic.

"Leto!" Karla was just thrilled to see everyone today. "I haven't seen you since..." There was a slight pause as she tried to marshal her thoughts. "...the last time I saw you! How've you been?"

He had to laugh in response to that enthusiasm, and held out his hand to her. "As well as I can be without you to cheer me up," Leto replied. "And you? You should stop by more often, I won't be here for much longer."

Karla took it and gave him a sadface when he mentioned not being around. "No! Don't say that! I'll miss you, Leto! You were one of my very first friends here."

Karla showed up in the doorway of the common room, giggling to herself. Apparently, her metabolism decided that the pot brownies weren't hurting her and so weren't bothering to process the THC quickly. Or maybe it was all worn out after that hallucinogenic fog. Or maybe the mun just thought she was funny. Either way, Karla was still being affected by the brownies from the Magic Reserves meeting.

"Kiss kiss," she sang, bounding into the room. "Oooh, whatcha watching?"

Whatever it was, it looked fascinating.

"Paternity tests," Jaina replied, waving her in. "Join us."

"Oooh, those are important!" Karla said, coming to sit near Jaina. "It's smart to get that done before the Birthright Ceremony if there's a question," she added. "Otherwise how will the mother know who to add to the Keep's register?"

Uhh, Karla? Not your world.

She smiled, and said, "You just said a lot of words I've never heard before. At least not in that order."
