Joan hadn't been terribly surprised to be woken up by a child this morning. She was kind of glad it was a child she recognized, even though she was mildly disappointed that she didn't seem to have a future child with her boyfriend.

Then again, she was grateful it wasn't the kid with the wings to give her tiny heart attacks all weekend.

Jared was starving so she led him down to the common room and started making pancakes, figuring there might be other folks in a similar situation.

"Yes, we would," Victoria replied before Leto could. "Who are you? Do you work here? My name is Victoria Chani Lorina Oxford Her-Own-Self Liddell Atreides, but you can call me Victoria."

Leto cleared his throat. "Yes, please," he said to Joan, and added to Victoria: "She is not a servant!"

Definitely not a servant, but she was kind of amused.

"Coming right up," Joan said. "And I'm Joan. I go to school here with your parents."

"Thank you," she said and curtsied. "You know mommy too? Queen Alice?"

"I know who she is," Joan said. She wasn't sure if she had ever actually talked to the other girl, but Fandom was small enough that she knew the name.
