Fifth Floor Common Room [evening]

Despite the fact that Puck was still nursing his wounds from the other night, he decided to actually make an appearance in a common room tonight. He brought his guitar out with him to tune, idly plucking out chords as he ignored whatever was quietly on the TV.

He'd kept that on for the sole purpose of entertaining him while he was tuning, since as soon as he got it fit to play he was going to try and get back in practice. His hands weren't even as callused anymore.

Firekeeper gave a small snort of amused laughter at the flirting. "Most do remember," she acknowledged. She was well aware the company she kept made her hard to forget. "I am Blysse, and he," she inclined her head slightly, "is Blind Seer." The wolf gave Roy a nod of his own in greeting, giving away the fact that he was not just an ordinary beast.

Well, he had to try, right? "Nice to meet you, Blysse--and Blind Seer," Roy said with a respectful nod for the giant freakin' wolf. "What brings you guys to the common room this fine evening?"

"Music," she said, with a nod in Puck's direction. "And company. Have not been seeking it much lately, but I thinked perhaps it were time to change that."

Okay, so the grammar was a little odd, but whatever, ESL students. They existed. "I hope you're finding the company acceptable?"

"I like to meet new people," she admitted. "But not so many at once, like with picnics." Which would be coming up in a few weeks, oh joy. "This is much better way."

"Yeah, I've only done one of those--this is my first term here--" Roy added for explainy purposes, "but it was kind of...overwhelming." And that was before he ran into teeny Dinah and felt his brain break into several small pieces. "Wow, I guess there'll be another one pretty soon, huh? Or do new kids not come until the fall?" He hoped there would be another one soon. He hadn't gotten very far with the current female population.

"There is new students twice in summer," Firekeeper informed him. "Am not sure why this is so, but," she shrugged. Wasn't like she even had the faintest idea who made decisions around here.

"Huh," Roy said. "Well, that ought to be interesting, anyway. So, you've been here a while?" He wondered if it would be rude to ask if she'd had a wolf when she got here.

"We comed here... one and half years now, I think?" she explained. "And still learning of this world, every day."

That answered that question. "Yeah, I guess it never stops surprising," or at least it didn't ever seem to stop boggling some of his friends back home. "Where are you from? Is it very different? My home's a lot like here, except we have some cities some people don't seem to have and, you know, superheroes and stuff."

"We is from the mountains outside Hawk Haven," Firekeeper explained, including Blind Seer in her statement. "Though one could also say we is from that kingdom as well. It is a world not very much like this one," and then... "Superheroes? What is?"

"People who--usually they have powers normal people don't have? But not always, and they dress up in costumes and fight crime," Roy said. "It's kind of a thing where I'm from. I didn't actually realize other places might not have them until I came here, you know?"

"There is those with small magic talents, where I am from," Firekeeper offered. "Though true sorcery were thought gone until very recent times. None have ever done this crime-fighting, I think," she admitted.

"Yeah, it's not a universal, apparently," Roy said with a shrug. "The first time I figured out there were people who'd never heard of B--" Roy remembered a certain other person he'd seen in the room and said, "Black Canary, that was weird." Yes, yes, Black Canary wasn't even the most famous back home, shut up, teeny Bruce Wayne existed.
