Fifth Floor Common Room - Friday Evening

Tim decided to put Claire's lesson to use and make himself some dinner. He found the pot she'd been using, boiled water and added the pasta. And then added some more because he was pretty hungry and it didn't look like it would be a lot of food. And a little more, in case someone else wanted some.

[Open with food, 'cause he's making way more than needed!]

Scully's smile widened at Peter's definition. In some ways, he reminded her of a younger Mulder, but with a more science-based mindset. "Since the ones I've talked to have equated much of their beliefs about magic to various religious beliefs, I can't be surprised. People here in the 20th-- excuse me, 21st century, think religion contradicts science. It's only a few steps farther to take that to magic-town."

"And I for one am not ready to take a trip to magic-town," Peter said with a chuckle. "I'm only tackling one anomaly at a time. Otherwise my head might explode like a papaya."

He rather liked the way Scully thought. He definitely knew who else to turn to when he needed help with the hard science.

It was a relief to talk to someone else who was rational about examining the strange things around them.

"One thing at a time," she sighed aloud, reminding herself. "Because there's no way else to deal. Examine the data. Check the methodology. Question the sources. I have no more wish to explode than you do."

Peter nodded in agreement. "I think I prefer your head unexploded as well. For one thing, it'd be hell to clean up."

"I'll keep you up to speed with anything I figure out. I'm no great scientist, but with a little research and a little luck we should at least have some basic understandings of our new home."
