Main Campfire | Afternoon | Sunday | May 23

The cabins were a bit of a change. Bod wouldn't necessarily call them a bad change but they were going to take some getting used to. He still had his own space and his privacy but it was lessened now and he'd have to remember that. After doing some unpacking, he'd wandered out to main campfire and taken a seat, taking advantage of the overcast day. He really didn't need to end up sunburned on the first day even if he knew about Karla's sunburn salves now.

So, he was out there now, a book resting on one bent knee and back against one of the logs. He knew it wasn't much of a change from what he tended to do on quiet days but Bod saw no reason that a change in setting would mean a change in routine.

[Oooh, a campfire post! Open, of course!]

It took Ariel a second to follow the gestures and glean their meaning, but, once she did, she shook her head vigorously to show that, while she couldn't speak, she could hear just fine. She pointed, then, to him, eyebrows lifted questioningly, before her hand went to her ear as well.

Not that it really mattered. It wasn't like she could say anything to him. Yet.

"Sometimes it's easier not to speak," he said with a grin. He held up the herb book. "Is this something temporary?"

Pfft. Ariel gave a puff of air in a scoff that showed just what she thought of that. Not talking when he perfectly well could! But she turned it into a wry smile as she nodded. Hopefully, yes, very, very temporary. She shrugged a shoulder. Should be fixed by the end of this week!

"I wish you well, and speed on your journey of healing," he said, somewhat formally, as if he were in court.

The effect was ruined somewhat with the lopsided grin. A week? That's quick!

Ariel nodded with her own courtly grace. For as little as she acted like one, she was still a princess after all.

Her own lopsided grin, bred from her eagerness to get to her 'speedy recovery,' however, also spoiled things on her side a bit.

James felt the correct response was a courtly bow and a friendly smirk.
