Main Campfire | Afternoon | Sunday | May 23

The cabins were a bit of a change. Bod wouldn't necessarily call them a bad change but they were going to take some getting used to. He still had his own space and his privacy but it was lessened now and he'd have to remember that. After doing some unpacking, he'd wandered out to main campfire and taken a seat, taking advantage of the overcast day. He really didn't need to end up sunburned on the first day even if he knew about Karla's sunburn salves now.

So, he was out there now, a book resting on one bent knee and back against one of the logs. He knew it wasn't much of a change from what he tended to do on quiet days but Bod saw no reason that a change in setting would mean a change in routine.

[Oooh, a campfire post! Open, of course!]

"So are we like, supposed to pretend we're lost in the woods now?" Denise asked. Of the guy she'd never met. Out of nowhere. "Because I can fake an axe murder, but who's going to scream like a girl and get caught in a bear trap?"

[identity profile] hasthegirlballs.livejournal.com 2010-05-23 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, totally," said Denise, and sank down on the ground without much else in the way of an introduction. "Although how fast it happens depends on whether you're a screamer. Or have sex. Or are the token black guy."

"I suppose I could scream, but it'd be funnier if we could get a boy to do it."

Denise looked up, and squinted at the girl's ears. Like... one of those things where they cut them apart and staple 'em back together to look pointy? "Goth girl," she decided. "You'd die like third."

"Mmmore like punk girl actually, but close. Third, does that mean I get to snark a bit before the end?"

It felt weird to be back in the cabins. Leda spent some time wandering around, wondering if she dared go explore the preserve on her own.

Then she found her way to the main campfire. "Hey Bod, whatcha reading?"

"I hear there's a good book store in town. Actually I should check that place out myself. I'm almost done with all my books too."

As if Ariel could really just stay inside when there was all this outside to explore. Spotting people over by the main campfire, she drifted over, a warm, friendly smile on her face and an excited wave of her hand, since she couldn't very well give the shout of HELLO EVERYONE, HOW ARE YOU? that she would have liked to have offered.

The correct assumption made Ariel smile a little bit more, her head bobbing happily in Bod's ability to tell. She followed it up with a contented sort of smile, looking about her in appreciation of the Great Outdoors. And then she turned her blue eyes back on him with a tilt of her head, one to suggest that he seemed to be enjoying them, too, only, clearly, her acknowledgment of it done so with a little nod, him with a book to boot.

"Hey Ariel." Leda waved back. "How do you like our new rustic surroundings?"

[identity profile] shes-got-legs.livejournal.com 2010-05-23 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Smiling, Ariel waved back (again, but this time, clearly, it was more direct), and was a little grateful for the whole no talking thing because, while she recognized the other girl, definitely, she so did not remember her name nearly as well.

But she nodded, lifting her shoulders in a happy little sigh that spoke plenty for how much she enjoyed all the trees and the grass and the birds and even the bees were interesting, though she had to wallop the seaweed out of one of them after it stung. It still wasn't as bad as a jellyfish sting, though.

She tilted her head questioning to return the inquiry.

"It's nice. To tell the truth it all kinda scared me last summer."

James raised an eyebrow and gave the redhead a wave back.

Oh, the trials of not being able to talk and just making yourself look like a complete idiot in front of cute new boys by not being able to say hello. Ariel could really only smile back a little more, and then she tilted her head curiously at the boy, the only way she could think to ask him how he was.

James raised the other eyebrow to match the firdt and tilted his head to match hers.

She was the silent type, then?

James took a seat at the campfire.

He had one of the herb books from that town shop in hand, browsing through the contents.

[identity profile] squire-hand.livejournal.com 2010-05-24 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Annoyed that he wasn't sure if the plants in the book from this world meant that they worked the same as the plants from his, James shut the book with a frustrated gesture and caught Bod's nod.

"Camping in cabins?" he asked with a half shrug.
