One month to the day, even though he hadn't planned it, Peter was back in the rec room playing on the piano. He was awaiting the arrival of his date prearranged meeting person, but while he waited he was playing a bit of Bach, just hoping that maybe the classical music might keep others away. Maybe.

"Do you know any of those really old jazzy songs?" She was referring to ragtime, not that she knew the term.

"Like how old?" Peter said. "Like turn of the century old?"

"I guess? The stuff that's all kind of plinky and upbeat."

"So something like this," Peter said. The default would be to go for 'The Entertainer', but Peter thought that one was played to death. He went for The Maple Leaf Rag (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMAtL7n_-rc) instead.

"Am I right?"

Claudia grinned. "That's it, yeah. Like in those old movies. What's that stuff called?"

"Ragtime," Peter said. "But don't ask me for the whole history or anything, because I don't actually know that part."

"That I can look up, now that I know what it's called."

"We do have a pretty extensive library on campus," Peter said. "It's actually quite impressive."

"I know. But all the best stuff's gotta be in Special Collections."

"The best stuff on ragtime? Probably not," Peter said. "Though I'd actually be a little hesitant to check out anything that library keeps away from normal patrons."

"I meant the best stuff in general. The kind of stuff that's hard to track down elsewhere."

"And possibly the books that actually can be bad for you," Peter said. "I think it's crazy to say that, but I'm starting to think crazy is the new norm for this place."

"See, and that should make me nervous, but really? It just makes me more curious."

"You know, it actually makes me kind of curious, too," Peter admitted. "Approaching the matter with precautions, of course."

"Oh, naturally. It'd be like an exploratory mission."

"Well, I think at this point all that we need is to get permission to go in," Peter said. "I have no idea what that takes, though. I'm not suicidal enough to try and sneak in."

"You need a pass from a teacher." Claudia grinned. "Now, where might we find one of those?"

"I think I might have an in with one of them," Peter said. "It might take a little effort to get, still."

"Just let me know if I can do anything to expedite the process."

"I will," Peter said, finishing the song. "So, Thai food?"

Claudia pushed away from the piano. "Thai food."
