When the magic and support reservists showed up to the preserve this afternoon, instead of four girls standing around in front of a table full of food, they'd find four girls on a white sheet spread out on the grass, in a large, twisted pile of arms and legs and assorted other parts.

One of those parts was Francine's face, which was, thankfully, free enough of the human spaghetti-monster that she could say: "Hi, guys! Don't worry, we're fine!"

She'd say and not doing anything dirty but she was Francine and the concept of whose elbow is that and what is it doing there had only just occurred to her. With an eep. That she was trying hard to suppress, not joke about. "We're just demonstrating a teambuilding exercise!"

Yes. That was what the kids were calling it these days.

"It's a game called Twister, for those of you who don't know it, but the object here isn't to be the last person upright when everybody else falls: it's to support your teammates so everybody can keep going for as long as possible, whether that's with magic or just a nice strong shoulder to lean on."

Tara was flushed as she pried herself loose enough to talk. The position she'd been wedged into had given her a good chance at guessing not just the other girls' bra sizes, but also whether they favored underwires or padding. "If you haven't played before," she observed, "it really helps to be flexible and, uh, not too shy about contact."

She was working on that part. Really.

Raven was utterly convinced now that Earth games were created by the insane. That was the only possible explanation for this "Twister." Either that or it had to belong in 'Dite's shop. "It might also be considered good practice on control for those of you whose powers are based on or intensified by touch," she added.

She was really hoping that no one in the pile started to daydream about, say, Kennedy or Katchoo, or she was going to get a mindful of it.

If Karla was unusually silent, it might have had something to do with her Craft being the major factor in the pile of girls not being a collapsed pile of girls. ~~Or maybe the fact that the answer to Tara's guessing game for most of them was 'Padding? Ahahaahahahaha.'~~

"I wouldn't be opposed to having somebody to get all tangled up in knots with," Warren replied, giving her a grin right back that could very well give hers a run for its money.

"Then it's a good thing you came today, isn't it?" Karla said. "I'll have you know, I'm quite excellent at knotting people up."

Hmm...that came out oddly.

"You stay here and guard that Twister board," she said. "I'll be right back."

Warren laughed and shrugged a little, smiling along after her.

"Consider it guarded," he reported.

... It... really wasn't going anywhere.

Someone else might run off and take it, jealous of their superior Twister team, of course!

See? This was why Karla was a leader. She had foresight. So much foresight, she saw possibilities that would never occur to anyone else.

A few minutes later, after talking to a few friends, Karla came back, two more team members in tow.

Raven...really wasn't sure about this. But Karla was insistent. And she, apparently, was putty.

Tim knew Raven, though he wasn't sure if that was a bonus in this case. All he knew about Warren, though, was that Denise might have taken his virginity and that was an awkward thing to know about someone you might be soon entwining limbs with.

Not nearly as awkward as it could have been, if Warren had been aware that Tim was aware of that, really.

As it stood, he just gave Raven and Tim both a small smile that was about a quarter-inch shy of being... shy, actually. And he nodded hello.

"Any more of us, and we're going to need a bigger mat," he mused.

And maybe more arms.

"Nope, this is all of us," Karla said cheerfully. "But Raven's flexible, Tim's wiry and graceful, you're strong, and I have Craft. The trick is to work together to keep ourselves upright for as long as possible, right? Between the four of us, we're going to be awesome."

Raven looked at the mat dubiously. "Perhaps we should agree that the boys should try to stay to the bottom as Karla and I are lighter," she offered up.

"A layered approach? That could work." Tim stroked his chin and studied the mat.

"And I can't really see my upper-body strength being of too much use from up top," Warren mused. "But there is more of me to reach around. Can you guys handle that?"

Muscle mass. Wings. That sort of thing.

"I can handle you, no problem," Karla said, evaluating. "Especially with Tim supporting me, too. And it's not like I have a lot of upper-body anything to worry about." Karla was deliberately not glancing in Raven's direction when she said that. "Though you guys might have to position me yourselves if I'm concentrating on Craft."

"I will guide your hands to where they need to be," Raven said oh so helpfully.

"I think we can all manage our own hands," Tim said dryly. "Who's up first?"

"I guess that would be me," Warren mused, stepping toward the mat. "Since I'm bottom, and all. And we can just sort of pile it on from there."

That's right, Warren. Just heap it on. Like a student-Twister sundae.

Karla spun the spinner. "Red right hand," she announced, and then glanced at Tim. "I go next and then you come up from behind for support?" she suggested. "Or would you rather be on Warren and then have me top you both?"

"If you and Raven are going to be on top, I'll have to come first." Tim was just not going to think about the words coming out of his mouth, okay? He sighed. "Just spin. I'll go next."

Raven flicked the spinner and waited for it to stop. "Left foot yellow," she said. This game was so strange.
