Main Campfire | Afternoon | Tuesday | July 27

Alex didn't have a damn thing going on today which made it easier to decide to hoof it out to the campfire and take a seat there. Outside meant he could smoke and not get bitched at by cabinmates. Outside meant he could watch people passing by, maybe entertain himself by annoying them. Outside meant not feeling like the walls were closing in.

He was feeling a little better than he had been the past few weeks but that still wasn't anything special. He lit a cigarette and leaned back against one of the logs, glancing up at the overcast sky before looking back around the camp site and wondering when the other shoe would drop. Things had been quiet for too long. It was bound to change.

[Open, of course. Working late at work so entertainment is neeeeeeeeeeded!]

"Or you're just keeping them all for yourself," Lindsay replied, the grin on her face revealing slight amusement.

"Not sure even chocolate and marshmallows are worth that," Lindsay snickered, taking a seat on one of the logs.

"I guess if you can be, I can, too," Lindsay said, her smile a little more genuine this time.

"Must be my lucky day," Lindsay replied. "I mean, it can't get much worse, right?"

"This is the second time this week the jinxing thing was brought up to me," Lindsay said, raising an eyebrow. "I don't want to be held responsible if things go wrong."

"Was talking to this kid Chuck." He was her brother's age, therefore she referred to him as a kid. "We were discussing how quiet it's been other than objects turning human. And I am just going to shut up about this now."

"That's just great," Lindsay said, also snickering. "I totally want to be known as the one who jinxed everything."

"Might as well be known for something," Lindsay shrugged. Isn't that what most high school students wanted?

Lindsay just sort of snorted. "I'm probably remembered as the girl who went from mathlete to being a lost cause."

She purposefully made that last part sound oh so dramatic.

"Someone who competes in math tournaments. I know, lame," Lindsay said, rolling her eyes. "And I only did that because it made my parents happy."

In actuality, she did like it at one point in her life. It just wasn't her anymore.

"I was," Lindsay replied, shaking he head. "Are you gonna use this against me forever now?"

Her tone was one of amusement, though, as if she wouldn't mind. Her fiends at home did.

"Yeah, guess I'll have to wait," Lindsay repeated.
