Alex didn't have a damn thing going on today which made it easier to decide to hoof it out to the campfire and take a seat there. Outside meant he could smoke and not get bitched at by cabinmates. Outside meant he could watch people passing by, maybe entertain himself by annoying them. Outside meant not feeling like the walls were closing in.

He was feeling a little better than he had been the past few weeks but that still wasn't anything special. He lit a cigarette and leaned back against one of the logs, glancing up at the overcast sky before looking back around the camp site and wondering when the other shoe would drop. Things had been quiet for too long. It was bound to change.

Wes shrugged. "I suppose," he said hesitantly. "I'd still prefer to have company, though. I mean to say, what if I simply look so clearly underage that I'm asked to produce identification and then my teacher recognizes me and then I'm expelled and no longer welcome back home either..."
