Second Floor Boys Bathroom, Sunday after the return

Bruce lived on the fifth floor. This was only the second. Bruce didn't care. It was the nearest set of showers for him to wash off the stink of sweat, filth, human blood (mostly not his), and grenade launcher exhaust. It had been a long weekend. Residents of the second floor were just going to have to deal with his trespassing.

And his humming. The damn Flower Waltz was stuck in his head after that last fight and it just wouldn't leave.

[OOC: It seems like a lot of people in the lobby were talking about showers, so why not. Come to the showers, wash up, and discuss what exactly that horrifying goop in your hair is! And try not to make out too much, I suppose.]

"If we did, there's a few more floors to try," Bruce pointed out.

"Yeah, but I live here and I'm not going up another step," Ben said. "I might just sleep in here."

That sounds comfortable.

"I'd guess you'll be more comfortable in your bed," Bruce said. "So where did you end up?"

"A nuked version of DC," Ben said. "Total vacation spot. Radiation medication is astral. You?"

"Underwater city populated by deformed and homicidal humans," Bruce said. "We got out without any casualties, so I guess we showed them."

"That's really good to hear," Ben said, letting out a relieved breath. "The lack of casualties, not the homicidal part."

"Fight anything interesting in DC?" Bruce asked. "Or was it strict survivalism?"

"Giant crabs," Ben said, "crazed inmates, the occasional hallucination. You?"

"Just the humans. But to be fair, they were very deformed," Bruce said.

"More limbs than they needed?" he asked.

Because he needed more nightmare fuel, clearly.

"More like their faces were melting or something," Bruce said. "Fortunately most of them wore masks."

Ben shuddered. "Let me guess--you checked behind a mask?"

"Wouldn't you?" Bruce asked.

"Yeah," Ben admitted. "Just to see."

"Exactly," Bruce said. "I didn't know what I was going to find the first time, but you get used to it quickly enough."

"Should we be worried that we got used to it so fast?" Ben wondered.

"No. It just means we're adaptable. That's a useful skill," Bruce said.

Ben closed his eyes and concentrated on the pounding water. "Very. It kept us alive this weekend."
