Fifth Floor Common Room [evening]

Rilla, after coming back from days of not remembering a thing, the horror, decided that an excellent way to make herself--and possibly the rest of the student body, judging by the pile of cookies stacking up nearby--feel better was to bake.

If only Rilla were better at baking.

Fortunately, another wicker basket from home was taking up most of a table and it was packed to the brim with moddable baked goods from Prince Edward Island. And those were guaranteed to be delicious.

Rilla's attempt at shortbread....not so much.

Rilla nodded, eyes wide. "I don't remember a thing from Friday afternoon until Sunday."

"Yes!" Firekeeper nodded in agreement. "It were quite strange to find out today is Monday, and not Saturday, when I wake up."

"Sara," Rilla pointed her out helpfully, "has been telling me the most horrifying tale of what happened while we were gone. It would freeze the blood in your veins!"

Firekeeper followed Rilla's gaze and then looked down at her own hands, as if to check if there had been any literal freezing. "What sort of tale?"

"Terrifying," Rilla said. "Entire chunks of the island disappeared without a trace!"

"How?" As if Rilla would know, even if she had been present.

"I don't know," Rilla admitted, "but it is terribly creepy to think about, isn't it?"

"Wicked, wicked sorcery," Firekeeper shook her head. "Such things is why I will never truly trust magic."
