The Roof; Wednesday Evening [ 08/25 ].

After a rather long and unsuccessful day looking over maps at work, Alexander found himself feeling distracted with thoughts of Cassima now more than he ever had since coming here. Without classes to fill his days, all he could do was think about her. Now was the added worry that, after all this time, she would slowly be forgetting about him, and would vanish completely from hope if he did not find the Land of the Green Isles soon.

So he found himself on the roof, looking at the stars, fascinated by them in a way. How they were so different from the stars above the kingdom of Daventry, or even the kingdom of Llewdor, and how they, like the vast sea, seemed unending. Somewhere out there, beneath the pale moonlight, was Cassima. He just knew it. The key was just how to find her and if she was out there, as he was, thinking of him as well.

He sighed, wishing he knew, and continued being emo thinking.

[[ open roof is open! MY NEW SCHEDULE AND TIME ZONE IS WEIRDING ME OUT :\ ]]

After slipping out of the slumber party before they could read from horrible romance novels that actually reminded her a bit too much of home, Maladicta took a deep breath and thanked the heavens was a bit too happy it was nighttime. "Alexander."

She wasn't lurking! Lurking happened in graveyards.

"It's certainly cool enough to enjoy for a change."

"They certainly are," Maladicta replied. "How anyone would navigate by them is beyond me."

"An explorer then?" Which was cute of him. And would end in a horrible death back home, but that wasn't the point.

"I haven't been beyond seeing the beach here," Maladicta replied. "It mostly just looks like a lot of water." And no shade to hide in.

Boo. Hiss.

"Couldn't you simply hire a boat to take you out?" People traveled like that, didn't they?

She raised an eyebrow, wondering when the innuendo would begin. When nothing happened, she carried on gracefully. "At night."

A pile of ash was no fun to talk to.

After an oddly social few days, Bruce needed to get away from both training and people and spend some time on the roof, alone.

So of course there were people there when he went up. That always seemed to be the case. "Enjoying the night air?" Bruce asked as he stepped outside.

Actually, he had come with the intention of enjoying some alone time in the dark, but that would sound a little too rude. "I did, actually," Bruce lied. "And the view from the roof is a lot nicer than the view from the porch. Have we met?"

"You're the one who made the call to those of us who were lost a few weeks ago," Bruce said. "Bruce Wayne. I suppose I owe you some thanks."

"You're not very good at accepting praise, are you?" Bruce asked, smirking a little.

"Thanks to all of the group, then," Bruce said. This was why he rarely made it a point to thank people. It often ended up getting too complicated.

Bruce didn't actually mind talking about that. It wasn't easy to traumatize him. "I was in the underwater city," Bruce said. "Really, it wasn't that much worse than a bad invasion here. And everyone survived."

Some almost didn't, of course, but that was a minor point.
