Gardens, Thursday Afternoon
There was a garden.
There was also a Cassidy who was working off some temper and irritation in said garden. It was a good thing that she had remembered to shield her hands while she was working because she had quite forgotten her gloves.
Said gloves were still in a drawer in her room since she had come right to the garden after her last class of the day.
It could be said that one red-headed witchling had worked herself into a bit of a temper. It was a temper she was using to help her work in the garden.
Mind the flying weeds.

She sounded amused--after all, she's been in that same position often enough--but her eyes were concerned. "Everything okay?"

"There are some horribly inconsiderate people on this island, Karla," Cassidy said, as if Karla wasn't aware of such a thing. "I mean, I know the question was about when we wouldn't sacrifice ourselves for somebody or something, but to just dismiss people you may not know as unimportant..." She was pulling weeds with a vengeance, but was now making sure she was careful where she tossed them. "Maybe I'm naive in thinking that it shouldn't matter if you know someone personally or not before you risk yourself for them."

Oh, give it time.
"At least I was able to converse with two more intelligent students that didn't seem to be of the opinion that boy was. Of course, being female, they were more sensible."

Of course, there were a goodly number of males about who would throttle her if they heard her say that. But Cassidy needed cheering up and a bit of coven-talk would do that faster than anything else.
"I'm pretty sure Professor Skywalker would have liked to hear what you had to say, though," she added. "What you say to other students is probably even more important than what you say to him."

"I'm afraid that my thoughts on the matter weren't very nice where that male was concerned, Karla. I wasn't sure of the Protocol for the class so I kept everything to myself." She tossed another weed aside. "But the conversations I had with Elphaba and Zatanna were more satisfactory, even if Elphaba did think that the class was morbid at first because of our ages."

At least, not until she showed her true colors. And hideous shoulder-pads.
"I think I've seen Elphaba. She was at the Reserves yesterday. Green, right?"
no subject
"Mhmm," Cassidy said, nodding. "She seemed very nice. I tried explaining to her how I was able to be a Queen and go away to school and how it wasn't a burden at all, but I don't know if I confused her or not."
no subject
Not biased at all, our Karla.
"The only thing you need to become a Queen in this world is the right parents or the right husband. There's nothing special about you. Our Queens and theirs are polar opposites. For the Blood, we're important, not our lineage. For them, it's the relationship that's important--the female herself could be replaced by damn near anyone without a second thought. That doesn't make sense to me."
no subject
"What? But what about the Land? What about the people that Queens take care of? What kind of world would put more importance on a relationship than on their responsibility?" She shook her head. "You're right, that doesn't make any sense at all."
And then, because she was curious.
"What did the High Lord say when you told him that?" Because Cassidy assumed Karla had told her Uncle all about that strangeness.
Maybe.

She shrugged a bit. "You're a female, he's a Warlord Prince. Defend and protect. You know how it goes."

Ah, gardens. Nice and peaceful, perfect thing before meeting his...meeting Helen later that evening, just quiet plants and flying weeds--
He stopped short as flying vegetation appeared a short distance away. Ah. The girl from Ethics.
"Hello."

"Hello."

He could not judge her reaction; he kept his own face neutral.

"Gardening," she responded. "You?"
no subject
"Just out for a walk," he said. "It's a nice garden."
no subject
"Thank you. There are several people who work on it."
