5th Floor Common Room - Thursday Evening

Bobby was still uncomfortable enough in The Room He Shared With A Girl that he didn't want to just hang out in there to study. Because he was totally enough of a geek to be studying during the first week of classes.

But he was also enough of a guy to be studying while watching cartoons and geeking out over the fact that his mom couldn't come in and make him turn them off because they were violent and not necessarily all that progressive especially in their treatment of women. Bobby just wanted to watch things blow up and the bad guys lose which they did with amazing regularity.

He had Hot Pockets (not the nasty organic kind), cartoons and biology homework. Life was pretty darn good.

"It is!" Momoko laughed and offered him the oreo bag. "Don't you like cartoons? They're fun, relaxing, and sometimes have awesome stories to tell!" Okay, so maybe she wasn't thinking purely of American cartoons, there.

"I never really had a chance to watch them," Jack admitted. "We didn't have a TV while I was the target audience."

"No tv?" Momoko took a moment to look sympathetically at him. "Are you from the past or some alien planet?"

Jack laughed and shook his head. "No. Well," he reconsidered. "Yes to the past, but not that far. 2005. Everyone else has a TV. I have...my mom and her strong opinions about television programming."

"Oh!" Momoko blinked. The idea of not being able to watch tv... "I was lucky. My mom's totally addicted to sentai shows. I've been watching since I was little. What does your mom not like about it?"

"The better question is 'what does my mom like about it?' and the answer is nothing. She's an academic and is pretty set in her ways. Then she finally gave in and bought a TV and a few months later it was stolen. Just my luck," he smiled.

"Wow, that is bad luck! So do you not like TV? Since you didn't get to watch it when you were growing up, I mean." Which still sounded cruel to her. "Or are you willing to try and see if it's worth a shot? I can totally vouch for its awesomeness!"

She glanced up at the screen and winced. "Or at least some of it."

"I got to see a few shows when I was over at friends' houses. I like it, even though I don't know what's on anymore. I was out of the loop 5 years ago. Now I wouldn't even know where to start."

This, it dawned on Momoko, was why the school had classes on television. Not to pad her transcripts, but to help poor lost souls who had no idea what to watch!

"Well, it all depends on what you like and why you want to watch. Like tonight, all I want is to hang out and be with people. So it doesn't matter what's on."

"Ah!" Momoko's smile brightened. "I was on the third floor until this semester! 307! I got a new roommate and moved up here.It's nice so far, but third floor is totally awesome!"
