Third Floor Common Room | Afternoon | Monday | September 6

One of the benefits of being a demigod was that Percy wasn't showing any effects of his fight with Luke yesterday. He'd gone down to the beach and done some swimming which had taken care of the cut on the back of his shoulder and the bruises on his hand. Even if Luke had beaten him, Percy was glad that he wasn't going to show obvious signs of that which would bring questions which would mean he'd have to tell people what happened.

And he really didn't want to tell people he'd gotten beaten.

There was a bad action movie on the television that had gotten Percy's attention almost immediately. He spent so much time training and running from monsters that getting to just chill out and watch movies had become a rare thing. He was taking advantage of it while he could.

Even the action movie couldn't completely hold his attention so if it looked like Percy wasn't paying attention, he probably wasn't. His thoughts were pinballing around every so often. If some of those thoughts included his cousins, well, oh well.

[It's a common room so it's open, dontcha know]

Dru had watched a lot of late night TV. It only took her a minute to identify the movie. "It's good if you turn your brain off and just go with it. But if you start questioning things like plot, or laws of physics, well then, it's pretty bad."

"That's a start,' Dru replied. "Just don't ask how the hero survives the big explosion without even a smudge of dirt on him."

"Anyway, I'm Dru. Welcome to Fandom even if it's a bit late."

He was safe, the only people Dru cursed at were vampires. "Mental? You mean things like the creeping hands that were around this weekend? That's nothing. Wait till things start turning up that want to eat you."

"Ah," she nodded. "Fortunately that hasn't been a problem for me. My time line is right in sync with Fandom's and I haven't stumbled across anyone that I know or that knew me." Other then her dead grandmother coming for a visit, but that seemed to be a special circumstance.

"Who'd you run into?"

"I didn't either, then I came here," Dru answered with a shrug of her own. "It's kind of like the movie. Just go with it, otherwise you'll be up all night trying and failing to figure it out."

"You've got things to be on guard against?" She could relate to that. It was why she was hiding out in Fandom for the forseeable future.

"Maybe. Not that most people out there are aware of it," Dru replied. "Where I'm from, I know you have to be on guard. I know what's hiding out in the shadows looking for dinner. But Jack and Jill out in suburbia with the picket fence and 2.5 kids? They think the biggest thing they have to worry about is some local teenager breaking in to steal the flat screen TV."

"It does in a way. Because they're less likely to cross the particular shadow where the monster's hiding," she explained. "Things from the Real World try to keep a fairly low profile so they're not likely to go rampaging through the suburbs. Instead they'll stick to the shadows in the seedier parts of town. And from what I've seen, the people there, even if they don't know exactly what it is to be wary of? They still have a kind of sense that lets them be survive."
