Third Floor Common Room - Sunday Evening

Sunday wasn't exactly a study day, but he'd had a slow week and didn't want to fall behind. He worked better with other people around and so had his Chemistry homework out in front of him. Jack was sitting cross-legged on the floor, occasionally glancing at the door as if hoping for a distraction.

[OOC: HI!]

"But if you don't take chemistry, how will you get into college?" Bobby asked artlessly, waving at George.

"I'm ... not going to college," George said, lifting her shoulders. "Next question?"

[identity profile] notlikejack.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Why aren't you going to college?" he asked, happy to provide.

Because I'm dead. That would certainly fuck with his head.

"I don't particularly feel like it," George said. "Why should I?"

[identity profile] notlikejack.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
... Bobby had never thought of that before. You just went to college after high school. "Um. Because you have to go to college to get a good job? I guess?"

[identity profile] onapalebicycle.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
"I already have a job," George said. Which was true on multiple levels, so that was nice.

[identity profile] notlikejack.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh," he replied, taken aback. He started talking quickly to make up for it. "Jack used to have a job too! He worked for Marcus' dad. I wanted one, but Mom said I was too young so Warren and I tried to start our own business."

[identity profile] onapalebicycle.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
"What kind of business?" George asked, half-scared of the possible answers to that one.

[identity profile] notlikejack.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
"We wanted to do odd jobs for old people!" Bobby said excitedly. "It was a great idea, but none of the old people really wanted to pay us? And then we had to clean out this old lady's gross garage and we found Jack's wallet that got stolen and Mom made us stop."

The concept of too much information was foreign to this one.

[identity profile] onapalebicycle.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Okay. She was going to process that slowly.

"If they didn't pay you, then ... why clean the garage?" she asked. Seemed like a good starting point.

Alongside "Old people suck."

[identity profile] notlikejack.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
"She paid us," he said. "Well, she was going to, but then Mom made us stop. And then I wanted to try out for the track team so there wasn't any time anymore."

[identity profile] onapalebicycle.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
"Why did your mom care?" George asked. "The old lady wanted you to clean her garage, then the old lady should have kicked in the money for it."

[identity profile] notlikejack.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, cause Jack got beat up by these guys at work? And they hurt him really bad so he can't run track anymore, and he was really good," Bobby explained, completely oblivious to the fact that Jack probably didn't want his history babbled out. "And the old lady's nephew hid wallets in her garage and one of them was Jack's that was stolen, and Mom didn't want me or Warren to get in trouble with that."

George was blinking a few times. Then she shook her head.

"Kid, anyone ever tell you that you tell really confusing stories?"

[identity profile] notlikejack.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, Jack says that a lot," Bobby agreed. "But he says I shouldn't ask people questions all the time either. So I don't know what to talk about then."

[identity profile] onapalebicycle.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Why not just ... talk to people?" George said, shrugging her shoulders. "Doesn't have to be an interrogation."

[identity profile] notlikejack.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
"That's what I was trying to do," he pointed out, a little dejectedly.

[identity profile] onapalebicycle.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
"... Oh," George said. Shit.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwkward .......

[identity profile] notlikejack.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Bobby gave her a grin and offered an Oreo. "It's okay! Don't worry! Have an Oreo! I have marshmallows too. You can make a triple sandwich."

[identity profile] onapalebicycle.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
"... Yeah. I think I'll pass," she said.

[identity profile] notlikejack.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"Worried about too much sugar?" he asked innocently.
