Third Floor Common Room - Sunday Evening

Sunday wasn't exactly a study day, but he'd had a slow week and didn't want to fall behind. He worked better with other people around and so had his Chemistry homework out in front of him. Jack was sitting cross-legged on the floor, occasionally glancing at the door as if hoping for a distraction.

[OOC: HI!]

"They're Oreos," he explained happily. "Do you have them at home? They're chocolate cookies and then they're sandwiched around some white creamy stuff. They're really good with milk!"

"I will have one, please," Elphaba said, grateful. "Though I do not think I will have the milk with it, if it's all the same."

"You don't have to have milk," Bobby agreed, offering her the package so she could pick out her cookie. "But if you want to try 'em dunked in milk another time, it's good. How are your classes?"

"My classes are all quite good," Elphaba said, happy to take a single cookie. She looked at the pattern along the wafers, marveling at the intricacy. After a moment, she took a small bite and chewed.

"Oh, that is wonderful," she said, amazed at the taste.

"Isn't it? Mom never let us have them at home, but I haven't told her here. She'd get on a thing about refined sugar," he told her. "I've been making sandwiches with marshmallows!"

Elphaba gave Bobby a look, the sort she gave Nessarose when she proposed doing things their father wouldn't approve of. "I hope you're not doing too much that you're not supposed to. I'd hate for you to get into trouble."

"Um." He looked like any younger sibling who was caught out. "Well, I don't wanna get in trouble either, but I don't think Mom really knew a lot about this school when she sent us. She thought it was just going to be normal? But now I'm rooming with a girl and one of my classes took us to Chicago and another one took us to Mount Everest and there are boys who look like me and people from other planets, and I don't think she's going to care about sugar when she finds out about all that."

Elphaba smiled, unable to prevent herself. Bobby just had that effect of infectious enthusiasm. "You do have a point," she said. "But there is the matter that sometimes what they don't want us to have is for very good reasons."

"Don't worry," Bobby reassured her. "Jack and I go running in the morning, and I take vitamins and eat real food too."

"Good. Because I doubt how much you'll grow eating marshmallow sandwiches," Elphaba said, a sisterly smile still on her face. "Your classes certainly sound exciting. Did you have to climb the mountain yourself?"

[identity profile] notlikejack.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
"It's not like I like being short," he pointed out. "We didn't have to climb the mountain! I would like to, but it's really dangerous, and I bet my mom didn't sign a permission slip for that and Jack would flip out."

[identity profile] didntchewgrass.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
"I imagine they'd be quite difficult to climb," Elphaba said. "Height not even part of it. And dangerous, as well. But probably worth the effort, in the end."

"Yes! Though Mount Everest isn't supposed to be really, really hard, but people still die on it just from the altitude and snow and stuff," Bobby said. "But then you'd be on the tallest point of the earth, and that would be..." he sighed happily. "You could see everything."

[identity profile] didntchewgrass.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
"I wish I knew more about this world, so I could understand better," Elphaba said. "But it does sound wonderful."

"I could ask the Doctor to make it again in the Danger Shop," Bobby offered. "Or I think someone made a movie about it once. Want me to find it for you? We could watch it and you could see all sorts of mountains!"
