Third Floor Common Room - Sunday Evening

Sunday wasn't exactly a study day, but he'd had a slow week and didn't want to fall behind. He worked better with other people around and so had his Chemistry homework out in front of him. Jack was sitting cross-legged on the floor, occasionally glancing at the door as if hoping for a distraction.

"Just don't take an iPod home with you," Jack joked.

"A what?" Although neccessity had required him to read up on mobile phones, he had yet to encounter mp3 players.

Of course he wouldn't know what an iPod was. Silly Jack. "It's," he started, then had to pause to think about how to properly describe it to someone who didn't know CDs, let alone anything after it. "It's a device that can fit into your pocket that plays pre-recorded music. You can store a few thousand songs on there. You taking one home would probably rewrite the history books when it comes to technology and the development of the modern world."

William considered that, and then smiled ruefully. "It seems as if I'm destined to experience culture-shock twice over," he observed. "As if I remain here for four years," and wasn't that odd, the very idea that he'd have the opportunity to stay in school until he was eighteen, "by the time I return home I suspect I'll have become accustomed to this era's conveniences."
