Third Floor Common Room, Monday Morning

Kate had not been pleased to find herself still a dude when she'd woken up today. It wasn't that she had a huge problem with it as such herself, it was just that she was kind of worried for the sanity of a certain someone else.

But there was nothing she could really do about it, so she'd just wandered down into the common room and decided it was a day for baking. Everyone would appreciate chocolate chip muffins, right?

(Kate, by the by, was not mature enough to not laugh at the fact that they had nuts in them.)

A couple of batches of muffins baked and set on the counter to be taken, she flopped down onto one of the couches and started leafing through an issue of Cosmo. Trying to see if she could get a male perspective on it today.

"I will count myself lucky, th-then," she said, with a bit of a laugh. "Are you holding up quite alright? It's a longer change than normal, is it not?"

"I'm doing better with it than some people," Kate shrugged, throwing a glance Percy's way. "But yeah, last time it was only a day, and I'm hoping it'll go away after today, this time."

Hinata followed her glance and shook her head slightly.

"A new student?" she asked, tilting her head that way. "Who hasn't gone through it before?"

"Mmhmm," Kate replied, nodding. "Though I think it's an attitude problem." She shrugged. "But, it's not like he's the only one. I think there are kind of a few that are having major problems with adjusting."

"I must confess," she said easily, "that I did not react as well as you did last year. I can--understand, th-though I would not say that I was angry about it."

She'd been mortified.

"Well, I did see someone freak the fuck out over it yesterday morning." Poor Bod, trying to go hide in the bathroom. "I know that's probably a way more likely reaction than... y'know, just being cool with it."

"You're right." Hinata wandered over to the fridge to find something to drink, then glanced back at Kate. "Once people who have gone through it before, h-however, tend to react better."

If only because they already owned clothing that would fit them as the opposite sex.

Except for when those clothes happened to be halfway across the country at the time. And Kate was, in fact, still wearing Bod's clothes.

But then she tended to occasionally do that girl-shaped, too.

"Yeah, we kinda get used to stuff like this," she agreed. "It's not as much of a shock, second time around."

"Though it lasting for more than a day is new," she observed. "I truly hope it does not last a week for everyone."

"Would make the homecoming dance pretty interesting, though," Kate had to point out because the thought amused her, mildly. "I still want this to be over soon, though. I don't wanna have to keep stealing my boyfriend's clothes, for one thing."

His fashion sense was a little too plain for her.

She couldn't help laughing.

"Homecoming would be a mess," she said, amused. "And Pixie Dust would be glad for the extra commerce."

Well, really it was truth.

"Does your boyfriend begrudge you wearing this clothing?" Some boys did, she heard. "Or d-do you just prefer your own?"

"I don't think he minds, I really just like my own better," Kate mused, glancing down at her shirt. "This is comfortable and everything, but... Not really my style."

Her lips twitched.

"Sh-Should I ask," she said carefully, "if he is wearing your clothing at the moment?"

"I doubt that," Kate said honestly, running a hand through her hair, and momentarily getting distracted when it stopped short too soon. "He didn't really take too well to any of this."

Hinata winced. If that was the case, then he was likely hiding, she thought.

"I'm sorry he isn't," she said, after a moment of silence. "I d-do not think there is anything I can say other than that in regards to his situation."

"Trust me, I know," Kate sighed. "That's pretty much all I had to say to him yesreday, too."

She looked a bit thoughtful for a moment, then shrugged. "But, this'll pass and then things'll go back to normal and everyone will be okay."

She laughed quietly. Just a little.

"Back to normal," she said, with a little nod. "Until the next time something happens."
