It was that time of year again. One of Effy's favourites, in fact. Who didn't love a cultural excuse to sit in the dark, set shit alight and just sit and watch it burn? Not having fireworks wasn't too big a deal, really. Could still come out and play with flames. That was better than nothing.

So far, she'd not had much trouble with today. That creepy little song she'd broke into earlier? She was stubbornly calling it a fluke.

... And in no way thinking about it too hard while she stared into the fire in the pit front of her.

"Course not." You'd have to be prepared for more than smoking and burning things for that. Effy was not.

"I look like someone who carries a pen with him?" Alex wondered, raising an eyebrow.

"About as much as I do." Which was 'no, not really'.

But she could trace her name on his chest with her finger. That was easy enough. Add a little dramatic swirl from the end of the y.

"Good enough?"

"I feel so privileged," Alex said, snickering and dropping his shirt. "If you sing again, I might make you sign my ass."

Teasing. It was teasing!

"I'll get my permanent marker." Also, kidding. Though she did have one, thanks to her recent art project. "Make sure it sticks for you."

"It'd make for a good story," he replied, nodding. "Anyone that gets to see my ass would wonder why your name was there and then I could explain."

Yeah, she was seeing the downside of this idea cropping up already. All the more reminders for him to share with anyone.

"Your claim to fame. Bet you'll just be showing it off all over the place."

"Well, I do like mooning people," he said and shrugged. "It makes for a great response if they insult me."

"How come I've never got that?" Sure she'd insulted him at some point. So sad to be left out of this habit he claimed to have. So, so sad.

"You saying you wanted to be mooned?" Alex asked, smirking. "You can see me naked in other ways."

"Just saying. Never noticed this thing for flashing people you claim to have." As usual, she didn't really believe him.

"Just because you haven't noticed doesn't mean anything," Alex pointed out, shaking his head. "I do have a life away from you."

"One where you're a flasher," she noted. "Can't say it's not... unusual."

"You telling me you've never flashed anyone before? You've been missing out," Alex said and sighed sadly. "It's fun."

"I don't make a habit of it," Effy corrected mildly. "Didn't say I hadn't done it." Possibly not in the overt mooning sort of way, but if you were wearing the sorts of clothes she did and moved the right way... You showed quite a bit of skin. Or underwear.

"So, you've done it?" Alex asked, leaning back and sounding amused. "When and how?"

"That thing with Griff count?" Technically, he'd walked in, but it wasn't like she'd bothered much with covering up.

"Oh my poor former roommate," Alex said and snickered. "I don't think he ever recovered from the sight of your rack."

Effy shrugged, still looking amused by by that incident. "His loss."

"I'd count it." The look on his face and the almost walking into the door had made it for her, it really had. Effy took it as a good thing. That was the sort of reaction to aim for.

"That the only time you've flashed some poor unsuspecting soul since we've been here?" Alex asked, shaking his head. "We should fix that."

"Unfortunately, I don't flash on command." If she was going to show someone her tits, she preferred it to be on her terms.

"Sometimes it's a... side effect, of whatever else I'm doing." Dirty things in public? That was more her speed.

"Does that mean you wouldn't flash me now?" Alex asked, amused. "In celebration of your holiday and all."

"Don't think it's a bit cold out here?"

Because Effy cared so much about temperature and wearing very little clothing. So, so much.

"You don't think I'd keep you warm?" Alex asked, frowning dramatically. "That's just harsh, Effy. I'm not that cruel."

Well. It was worth checking.

Effy shrugged, stepping back a little closer. "Told you shouldn't assume." There was some dumb rhyme about it. But so long as he would, seemed like settling on him, straddling his lap, was a good idea. Already felt a little warmer, just being closer to him.

"But, I do believe you."
