The Deck [Friday, Evening]

It was that time of year again. One of Effy's favourites, in fact. Who didn't love a cultural excuse to sit in the dark, set shit alight and just sit and watch it burn? Not having fireworks wasn't too big a deal, really. Could still come out and play with flames. That was better than nothing.

So far, she'd not had much trouble with today. That creepy little song she'd broke into earlier? She was stubbornly calling it a fluke.

... And in no way thinking about it too hard while she stared into the fire in the pit front of her.

[[Open, as these things are!]]

Amazingly, Alex remembered this day from last year so he wasn't all that surprised to find Effy outside with her best friends: things that got lit on fire.

"Gonna burn shit down this year?" he asked, oblivious to the singing for the moment.

"Did you really just say you were trying to be good?" Alex asked, raising an eyebrow. "That's scary."

"Have you ever wanted to be good?" Alex wondered curiously. "Why start now?"

"Wow, I feel like I don't even know you anymore," Alex said, half serious. "You've changed so much."

"I believe that when I see it," he joked, flopping down in one of the seats and sighing. "I remembered what day it was. Proud of me?"

"I came out to see you," Alex said, shrugging lazily. "I don't know if what I'm doing counts as celebrating. I'm more of an observer. You're better at this holiday than I am."

Alex shrugged. Halfway decent mood yeah but he wouldn't call it good. And he would have gladly told her that if he hadn't done something far more embarrassing before that.

"I've been to Egypt, I've been to Rome
I was a young man when I left my home
Looking for something I couldn't find
Now I'm back where I started, it was here all the time."

Alex groaned and thumped his head back against the seat of the chair.

Throughout the day, Leda seemed to have run the gamut in terms of repertoire. She was largely ignoring it. Though she hadn't realized she knew that many songs. Some Green Day, some Pink, some Rent, hell even a bit of Avril and Taylor had worked their way in there.

Now she'd like to relax and enjoy a fire.

"Hey."

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2010-11-06 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah." she decided. All things considered, life weren't too bad at the moment. "You?"

"It is nice. Relaxing." Leda nodded. She wasn't averse to some excitement usually, but it was nice to take a break.

"Well I'd be worried if nothing was going on. But,

Don't, stop, thinkin' about tomorrow.
Don't stop, it'll soon be here."

She cleared her throat, and waited to see if anything else was coming. But that appeared to be all of that song she knew or something.

"But there's that."

"I've done better today. One time I actually had an invisible choir backing me up. Possibly a full orchestra too but I wasn't listening closely enough to tell for sure." Leda said wryly.

"Let's see, three or four full songs, and a bunch of little snippets like what we just did."
