Third Floor Common Room; Saturday Afternoon [ 11/06 ].
Yesterday had been so strange that Alexander felt the need to just sort of relax a little and find himself some nice distractions. He didn't typically watch a lot of television, but decided it was the sort of entertainment that might be called for after a day like the one before.
Of course, that was before he turned it on and started changing the channels to a horrible discovery. He didn't know if it was the television or what, but it seemed that every channel was playing nothing but musicals.
"That is not amusing, television," Alexander informed it with a frown, clicking the machine off.
He was just going to read a book instead.

"Not all of it, nah. Would you like some? It's just vanilla, but there's probably chocolate syrup or sprinkles or something in the cupboards, if you'd like."

She stood up and went to the kitchen. "Do you need anything while I'm in here?"
no subject
And then, naturally, he was bouncing to his feet and making his merry way over to the kitchen, too. Zacks were not made to sit still for very long.

"Why did you say I'm beautiful?"
no subject
So there!

He shrugged a little bit.
"How you look shouldn't have anything to do with anything. People are just dumb." Yeah, that was about the meanest thing that Zack could say, right now. "Everybody's different, you know? I just don't think that looking different should be such a deciding factor in things..."

She pointed at the cups. "Don't you need something to float the ice cream in?"
no subject
And then it was all lopsided grinning and peering into the cups like he hadn't missed a beat at all.
"You can get more ice cream in this way!"
no subject
no subject
Sure, Zack.

"Root beer or orange?"
Mmm, variety!

"No problem," he said, regardless, as he made a grab for the root beer. "It's good stuff, right? And I'd feel kinda bad about just sitting there and having it all to myself while you watched."
no subject
"I'm... used to others enjoying things, while I am only able to observe," Elphaba said. "So there's no reason to feel bad about that."
no subject
And then he was pouring the root beer, taking pains to not let the cups foam over.

But how she didn't know how to act.
no subject
"But you're not used to people not judging you at a glance, right? And you don't have much experience with people just being nice and you've probably had to watch your back a lot growing up, huh? That sort of thing is difficult to let go of, isn't it?"
no subject
"It's wonderful, and yet at the same time I have no idea how I'm supposed to act. My only friend before here was my sister, and even with her I had to take care of her. It was a very particular friendship."
no subject
"So, what we have to do is hang out together more," he decided, all smiles all over again. "So you have have plenty of practise!"
And also because she was a friend of Zack's, and his little sibling, and so he felt kind of obligated, here.

And had an infectious enthusiasm that she liked quite a lot.
