It was finally Thursday! It was finally party time!

And Ariel, not wanting to be a disappointment in carrying the tradition of Atlantican parties onto the land, had gone all out, showing up at the pool as soon as she was finished with Glee Club to get everything set and ready for when the party was going to start. The decorations were slightly insane, and had been...an interesting challenge to put up, but Ariel had managed without falling into the pool too much. And off in an area where the splashing was unlikely to spoil anything, she'd set up a food table with all of her favorite human foods (she was going to do some Atlantican ones, but she'd have to make them herself, and no one wanted that) and a dance floor with a DJ booth for Jono.

How she got all this down here and up was just going to wind up being one of those great mysteries of life, but she knew that hard work and perseverance and obsessive planning had really paid off.

But, of course, it'd be nothing without guests.

Come hang out by the pool in your cute swim wear and forget that winter is coming!

Don't forget your little gift bags, too! Fitting the theme, there are all sorts of under the sea items inside, like cute little shells and fishes, as well as some complimentary sunglasses, suntan lotion that smells like the beach, pirate hats and eyepatches, or any other little gifts you'd like to mod.

It's a pool party! Jump on in, splash around, start up an awesome game of Marco Polo.

With Jono favoring DJing over swimming, you know the music is going to be good. Ariel has faith that he'll even avoid making too much of it too depressing.

Ariel loves food and has plenty available, so long as you keep it in the designated eating area and away from the pool!

And wait at least half an hour before going swimming.

But no sushi!

Since Ariel was throwing the party herself, she really wasn't expecting any gifts, but if there were some, they would definitely be happily received.

But your being there and having fun is birthday present enough!

Leda was certainly not going to miss this party. Ariel was one of her favorite peeps!

She didn't know how much swimming she'd be doing, but she was wearing a silver, one piece suit, just in case.

Leda had in fact brought Ariel a gift. It was her usual fare, an impression ball with music from Bob Marley, Jimmy Buffet, and the Beach Boys on it. Also some Disney. No reason.

Robin showed up, incongruously wearing light blue swim trunks. Woo pool party!

Robin dove off the high dive with a jubilant shout.

Robin had a pair of novelty sunglasses with palm trees forming part of the frames for Ariel.

"Leda! Hi!" Ariel waved when she spotted the other girl, bouncing over and handing over a string of plastic flowers. "Here, have a lei! Thanks for coming!"

"Robin!" Ariel laughed happily when she knelt down to greet him. "They didn't have any frog-size leis, but I've got a flower for you."

"Aw, thank you Ariel. Happy Birthday!" He accepted the flower, and then took her hand, bowing over it.

Leda would love a lei! Totally dirty.

"I wouldn't miss it." she smiled, putting on the lei. "Happy Birthday. I love what you've done with the place."

Yes, Alexander was going to Ariel's party and he was dragging Maladicta with him. He knew Ariel was...Ariel, but if she'd gone through the trouble of making their invitations as she did, it was the least they could do, and what else would they do except maybe watch a film and eat coffee ice cream more.

He wasn't going to push his luck and try to get her to swim, but he was going to tease her about her reluctance with the whole thing.

As little party animal as Chuck had in him, he still wouldn't miss this particular celebration. Ariel went so far as to plan him a party, the least he could do was make an appearance at hers.

So here he was, looking a little uncomfortable in his swim shorts and carrying a little party bag that he hadn't yet dared to look in.

"Chuck!" Ariel couldn't help being particularly excited to see him there; no reason! "You made it!"

And there would be her arms going up so that she could accessorize his cute swim shorts with a lei. "Thank you for coming."

Rilla, wearing a super-practical wool swim costume (http://recollections.biz/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/web100700-1-2.jpg), arrived precisely on time for the party.

She did so love a party.

"Rilla!" Guaranteed scandalous in her typical seashell bra, Ariel didn't seem too bothered as she bounced up to her friend, ready to adorn her with a pretty lei. "Thank you so much for coming, and what a cute dress!"

Why Rilla would wear a dress to a pool party was beyond Ariel, but she wasn't one to judge. Maybe she didn't plan on swimming, which was fine, because that would make the other non-swimmers have more company.

"And your seashells are very...festive!" Rilla finally came up with. "Happy birthday!! How old are you now?"

Jonothon, play depressing music?

... Okay, now and then, possibly. But he'd actually picked out a fairly impressive selection of music for the party. Enough, in fact, that he could quiet easily take requests, should anyone have anything in mind that they'd like to hear.

He was set up well away from the water, of course. Electronics really didn't tend to mix well with swimming pools. And, for that matter, neither did he.

"Oh, neat!" Ariel was definitely impressed by the ball. It was pretty, after all, but, pretty as it was and perfect for her collection, she couldn't help asking: "What is it?"

Jono was not wearing cute swim wear. Jono did wear blue jeans and a t-shirt today, though. He had learned his lesson about going near water wearing mostly leather.

He'd also come bearing far more CDs than any one person should ever think of carrying at one time. He was well prepared to DJ, this evening.

Chuck's grin twitched a little lopsided as he checked out his lei. "Well, thank you for the invite," he said, fighting the urge to fiddle with it like he would a tie. "And happy birthday!" Yeah, he was probably supposed to start with that part. Shh.

"Really getting into the theme thing here," he noted. "Very beachy." Which was a good thing, even if he wasn't at his most confident in a bathing suit.
