Third Floor Common Room, Early Thursday Morning
Kate had been doing okay, this week, even if she'd mostly kept to herself. No rushing to Bristol, no worrying over anyone's life. Things had been... quiet. Almost mellow. And she'd needed something like that.
But this morning her nightmares had woken her up early, and they had been just bad enough for her not to even want to try getting back to sleep. Not with all that disturbing shit lurking right behind her eyelids, no thanks. So she'd slinked off down to the common room.
It wasn't too long before she had a batch of chocolate muffins done, a fresh pot of coffee (which Bod had gotten her for her birthday so it was special occasions only, though she might have been inclined to share), and a cake in the oven.
Today was Bobby's birthday, but he was only getting a couple of muffins with frosting and sprinkles. The cake was for... other stuff.
[ooc: Open common room is open, as early as it is for most of you. And now I want cake. To eat.]

That was something of a greeting, wasn't it? Oh well, it was the best she was getting because Percy was still waking up and wasn't all that nice anyway.

"Stop calling me kid," he snapped immediately, making a face and wandering over to the refrigerator. "You can smell the cooking all the way down the hall."

She was going to ignore that other request, of course. She'd stop once he stopped meriting the name.

"Why are you cooking so much?" he asked finally.

Not the best burn but it was early.

"...Please tell me some sort of Christmas Elves are compelling you to do this, and you didn't actually wake up early to do a Betty Crocker impression."
Bold words from a groggy shirtless man.

"But what I was meaning to say is that unless you know something about Kate that I don't, I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt on her motives."

He was, however, starting to get a little chilly without a shirt. He rubbed his arms to warm them. "And I'm a big believer in pants wearing. After a certain hour of the day."

The cake wasn't for the birthday, but no one needed to know that.

If a little...sweet. He wondered if anyone would mind terribly if he took to the task of getting in some protein with bacon and eggs...

That, and he really didn't do well on just sweets for breakfast, though the coffee could make up for a lot of that.
"Is your roommate Bobby, then?"
Alexander didn't know him too terribly well, but he had gotten the email on his phone, and had even figured out how to read the thing, too.
