Third Floor Common Room, Early Thursday Morning

Kate had been doing okay, this week, even if she'd mostly kept to herself. No rushing to Bristol, no worrying over anyone's life. Things had been... quiet. Almost mellow. And she'd needed something like that.

But this morning her nightmares had woken her up early, and they had been just bad enough for her not to even want to try getting back to sleep. Not with all that disturbing shit lurking right behind her eyelids, no thanks. So she'd slinked off down to the common room.

It wasn't too long before she had a batch of chocolate muffins done, a fresh pot of coffee (which Bod had gotten her for her birthday so it was special occasions only, though she might have been inclined to share), and a cake in the oven.

Today was Bobby's birthday, but he was only getting a couple of muffins with frosting and sprinkles. The cake was for... other stuff.

[ooc: Open common room is open, as early as it is for most of you. And now I want cake. To eat.]

Peter honestly couldn't refute that. "So just a case of being a morning person," he said, shrugging it off. He sniffed the air again. "I smell coffee," he said, with a face that was about ready to ask if he could have some.

"Good, free coffee?" Peter said, walking over to the coffee maker eagerly. "Surely, it is a Christmas miracle."

He carefully poured himself a mug, what with not wanting to splash coffee on his naked chest. "I'm also blatantly ignoring whatever the hell is going on outside the windows."

"It might just be light snow," Peter admitted. "But I'm not wanting to check, yet. No weirdness before coffee. It's a rule."

"...Powdered sugar?" Peter said, before shaking his head and taking a careful sip of the coffee. "No. Not letting myself think about how that'd affect the local wildlife. That way leads to pain."

"Better," Peter said, "But I can't help it. I think about these things. The burden of an inquisitive mind, I guess."

He took another sip of the coffee. "You're right, it is pretty good."
