Raven's Surprise Birthday Party, 6th Floor, Late Friday Afternoon

The sixth floor had been transformed into a proper Winter Wonderland, complete with twinkling lights adorning the walls, and... snow?

Yes, snow. Inside. Don’t ask how it got here. Or why it wasn’t melting despite the fact that the room itself was a comfortable temperature. If someone did ask, the only answer they’d get was a mysterious smile from Karla and a slight waggle of her fingers. Whatever conclusion they wanted to draw from that was fine.

But it wouldn’t be a party without the food, of course, which is why there were several tables with all sorts of (vegetarian-friendly) snacks and drinks, and, yes, a cake. Made by Sookie and not either of the two people organizing this party. Which meant it was safe for human consumption. Speakers hidden behind fake trees were playing soft New Agey music, with a few instrumental holiday carols thrown in. Even some of the tinsel from yesterday had been saved and used to decorate.

Come in, relax, and help the birthday girl celebrate her first party in style.

Oh, the theme was beautiful. Rinoa couldn't stop staring at the decorations! This was breathtaking.

She grabbed some of the snacks and mingled, looking for people she knew.

"Hey, Rinoa!" Did Bobby count as someone she knew? They hadn't talked more than once or twice that the player can recall, but Squall was his fake-sibling, which meant there was totally a connection there, right?

"Hi!" Rinoa said, reaching out to offer Bobby a hug. He was her not-boyfriend's fake sib, and boyfriend to one of her friends, so that was a double connection. Hence the hug.

Also, she liked hugs.

"How are you?" she asked. "Oh, by Hyne, I can't believe how gorgeous this place is."

Hugs were good! At least, when Bobby was in a hugging mood. Which he was today, so that worked out. "That was Karla's idea. I'm glad it worked out as well as it did." While he'd taken care of the actual snow, it had been her idea, so it wasn't even fudging the truth.

....Well. Maybe a little.

"It's amazing," Rinoa said, shaking her head. "I'll have to tell Karla, then. You know, I've always thought winter was the prettiest season. So long as you don't mind the cold."

Cold just meant that you should find some hot chocolate and someone to cuddle.

"I love cold weather," Bobby grinned. "It's the hot weather I don't really get along with. Five minutes in the sun and I'm done." A bit of an exaggeration, but not by that much.

"I'd miss the beach," she admitted. "Summer's nice for laying out and soaking in the sun, but that's not half as pretty as snow. Maybe I just like all of it."

She was going to refrain from making a joke about being easy. It was a near thing.

"I suppose I could accept that," Bobby said, pretending to think about it. "My world's Antarctica- that's at the, uh, South Pole, normally one of the coldest places on the planet," he added, belatedly remembering Rinoa wouldn't have the same points of reference, "has a tropical preserve. Nobody really understands how it got there, but it's really awesome. One minute you're in the cold and snow... next? Middle of a jungle."
