Raven's Surprise Birthday Party, 6th Floor, Late Friday Afternoon

The sixth floor had been transformed into a proper Winter Wonderland, complete with twinkling lights adorning the walls, and... snow?

Yes, snow. Inside. Don’t ask how it got here. Or why it wasn’t melting despite the fact that the room itself was a comfortable temperature. If someone did ask, the only answer they’d get was a mysterious smile from Karla and a slight waggle of her fingers. Whatever conclusion they wanted to draw from that was fine.

But it wouldn’t be a party without the food, of course, which is why there were several tables with all sorts of (vegetarian-friendly) snacks and drinks, and, yes, a cake. Made by Sookie and not either of the two people organizing this party. Which meant it was safe for human consumption. Speakers hidden behind fake trees were playing soft New Agey music, with a few instrumental holiday carols thrown in. Even some of the tinsel from yesterday had been saved and used to decorate.

Come in, relax, and help the birthday girl celebrate her first party in style.

Warm drinks and filling vegetarian dishes abound, along with some spicy surprises to contrast with the cool winter theme. The centerpiece of it all was the cake, courtesy of Sookie.

Bobby had helped put this party together, of course he was here, wandering around the room and mingling. With a plate full of food, as Bobbys were wont to do.

Ariel could never miss a party, even if she didn't know the people who it was for nearly as well as she'd like to. And, of course, once she got there, she could only marvel at the decorations. "Ohmygosh!" she openly gawked with an approving beam. "This is beautiful!"

Other than the ten minutes it took Karla to bring the birthday girl to her own party, Karla was happily wandering the party, making sure everything was going smoothly.

It was Raven's first party. Everything had to be perfect.

And if she was sampling all the food? Well, someone had to taste test it!

Alexander would certainly not be absent at Raven's birthday party if he could help it, and so he was there, rather impressed with the decorations and the display and thinking that the parties held by people here were certainly setting a standard for him to consider when he was king and probably would have to put many such events together for his kingdom.

Of course, hopefully, by then, there'd be a queen who could handle quite a bit of it, too. Or at least help him out a little.

Kennedy might be a little disappointed at the vegetarian menu, but that wouldn't stop her from loading up her plate; luckily, a party with Bobby and Karla at the helm wouldn't be short on munchies.

Dolf felt a little embarrassed he didn't actually have the money to buy Raven any gifts, but he was going to go to her party with his head held up anyway.

The cake looked really, really good.

Jason didn't know Raven and the others as well as he might have liked, but he had a lot of respect for people who wanted to throw a party for someone who'd never had one. The decorations were a lot more than he was expecting, so when he arrived, he ended up just standing and staring around at everything.

Absolutely, yes.

Which was why he was there, of course, staying as far from the food as he could manage while still actually being in the same room, and looking... Actually, rather pleasant. For Jono.

This was probably the healthiest plate of snacks anyone has ever seen Leda carrying. Carrots, brocoli and pita. Mmmm.

Oh, the theme was beautiful. Rinoa couldn't stop staring at the decorations! This was breathtaking.

She grabbed some of the snacks and mingled, looking for people she knew.

Raven followed Karla up to the 6th floor, unaware of what was waiting. She looked around in confusion. "Karla, I think someone is having a party up here today."

There was a small box on the table with a card for Raven. The wrapping job suggests Karla had perhaps wrapped it herself--ie, poorly.

There were two boxes wrapped in paper that depicted cartoon penguins doing a variety of winter sports. Raven would probably be able to guess who this gift was from without a card, but there was one anyway.

Alexander had no idea what Raven might like for a gift, but he did know that he wanted to give her one, so, after much thinking and a bit of working, he had wrapped up a small box with a card. Inside, of course, was one of his hand-made utility belts, with plenty of pockets and pouches.

The card inside read simply: I do not know if you will find this useful, but Bruce and Maladicta seem to enjoy theirs, and now you may have one of your own. If you can think of something else useful that I might make for you instead, please let me know, and I'll be happy to give it a try.

The large rectangular package that Kennedy left on the table would, upon being opened, be a framed and autographed poster of the Rumor Gal cast, and the envelope attached to the black and silver wrapping paper contained a $150 gift card for Lush.

There was also a note in the envelope reading:
We all deserve to indulge ourselves a little, okay? Humor me on this one.

It had taken Jono a fair bit of deliberation before he managed to settle on a gift for Raven that didn't just boil down to his usual 'grab music for people, it's easy' habit.

And so, he'd gotten Raven one hell of an assortment of star-shaped scented wax melts, and an electric wax-melter... night-light... thing. In black, of course.

Just don't ask why he'd gotten one package of every scented wax available, and he won't have to explain that he would have had a hell of a time discerning one smell from the next in order to choose. But the lady at the shop had assured him that they all smelled very nice.

Even the ballpit had gotten into the decorating scheme, with all the white, blue, and clear balls on top. Look, if they were going to go with a theme, they were going to do it right.
