Third Floor Common Room; Wednesday Evening [ 01/12 ].

Wednesdays had always been a busy day for Alexander, what with classes, reserves, and work, but it was not over yet. He had been given an assignment from Deadpool that evening and, as pointless as it seemed, he figured he would, at the very least, give it a try.

Which mean that he had made some popcorn, got some ice cream, and planned to spend the evening in front of the television, on the channel dubbed "the CW" to manfully sit through the programs of that night.

Which apparently meant....a spy show and cheerleaders.

This...was going to be interesting, yes.

But at least it wasn't Rumor Gal.

[[ yes, common room is open. yes, my roommate is an evil woman ]]

"Oh, yes," Elphaba said. She'd not greeted the woman, but she was hard to miss. "I know of her, I thought the name rang a bell, but I was not sure."

"Well, I'm glad for your fortune. I'm sure your skills are just being... tested before you can venture out on your mission."

"Well, not literally," Elphaba said, looking a little sad that her words had seemingly fallen flat. "I meant just... an exercise in searching and finding must have been good."

It wasn't so much that Alexander caused it, but that Elphaba got easily demoralized when it came to social missteps with her friends.

Most anyone else, and she'd not have cared one iota how her words had been received.

"Well if I ever misplace anything important, I'll seek your help," she said. "Though my most important possession, I've always kept that in the same place."

"Well you're hardly a stranger," Elphaba said. "It is very private, but I would, and will, share it with you."

She thought he'd be quite respectful of it, as he always was.

"It's a bottle. Green glass, like an elixir bottle I think. It was my mother's, and the one thing of hers that I own. I keep it under my pillow so that..."

She trailed off a moment, this last part being quite personal. "So that I have something of her near."

"I knocked it over, once," Elphaba said. "It tumbled to the floor but thankfully did not smash. Though my distress apparently screamed across the hall and Raven nearly ran straight through my room door."

She chuckled a little at that thought. Raven really had been such a good friend.

"Thankfully so," Elphaba said. "It's lived under whatever pillow I have for the past fourteen some years, after all. I sometimes wonder if the bottle itself is somehow magical."

"I never thought of it that way," Elphaba said. "Like my care for it might help protect it."

It didn't seem all the implausible, actually.

"You're very insightful, as always, Alexander."

"Sorry," Elphaba said, a little flushed herself. "It's an emotional subject for me, as you can imagine."

She paused for a moment, then just took another noisy bite of her apple.

"She died when I was very young," Elphaba said. That part was at least easy to share. The rest got messy, and she didn't wish to burden Alexander with it. Not, at least, right now. "It was while giving birth to Nessa, my sister. So it's a sense of... emptiness, often, when I think of her."
