First Floor Rec Room, Tuesday Morning
This was one of those mornings were Kate just woke up way too early and couldn't go back to sleep with the way thoughts were just whirring around in her head. After trying anyway, she'd given up and headed down to the salle for a half-mandatory pre-class practice session, intended to center her again, and maybe reduce her stress levels about whichever way certain people she wasn't even supposed to pay attention to were probably going to be interacting in class.
Even a good while spent attacking dummies hadn't killed all the time she had left before her class that was still hours away, though, and she found herself having a need to just take it easy now. With some video games. And the rec room was the perfect place for that since she'd never gotten around to hauling her XBox to Fandom even though it was just gathering dust back home. Not like Marshall ever played anything without her.
She parked her ass on a couch, controller in hand, and made herself comfortable.Meta for Little Big Planet was totally good practice for her reflexes too, right?
[ooc: Open like a rec room! ETA: There is a good chance of SP until my evening. Today is weeeird for me.]

That couldn't have possibly been more fake.

And maybe that was why he poked this need of hers to be normal so much. She was running away but staying in plain sight. It evoked memories.

"I'm around and I'm me, Nathan," she said, all amusement fallen away from her voice and her expression. "And it feels like whenever I make any kind of move to be the kind of person you want me to be and you think I don't want to be, all you do is shoot me down and tell me I'm dull now. So I don't know why you get to judge me."
She also didn't get why it got to her so much that he did.

Instead, he dug his cigarettes out of his pocket and plucked one out.
"Going for a smoke," he said idly, tucking that cigarette behind his ear and getting his feet moving towards the door. "Talk to you later, Kate."

A little quieter, she added, "Don't even like people touching my neck anymore, how's that for interesting?" It was one of those things that just wanted to get said aloud. She wasn't sure he'd even hear it, and didn't particularly care.

"What's the deal with your neck?" he wondered after a moment. "Bad bondage memory?"

He shrugged though and glanced over his shoulder at her. "Your life though. You wanna hide, feel free. Just don't expect people not to call you on it if it's obvious."

Nathan was the only one who was looking. "Everyone else just lets me do what I want."

"Make your own decisions, Kate, I don't give a rat's ass. You know what I think. I just thought I'd be honest for once since apparently, you're not getting that from anywhere else. But really, I need a smoke. See you later."
With that, he was out the door and down the hall, rolling the cigarette around between his fingers and pasting that smile back on his face.
