fandomhighdorms | Magic/Support Reserves: the Preserve, Wednesday After Classes

It wasn't Hawaii, but it was in the mid-50s today, so Magical/Support reserves was meeting outside to make the best of the warming temperatures. There was a table of the usual snacks, including quite a few lovely cakes with various tasty frostings (with all organic ingredients, of course, since Raven had procured them).

Unfortunately, the cakes had drawn some attention in the form of gremlins who were in search of a sweet treat. Said gremlins also didn't care about long-winded speeches, so when Raven stepped forward to begin to speak on the day's topic, a piece of cake suddenly came flying through the air right at her head.

Raven frowned indignantly as she scrubbed frosting from her cheek. "That was not very nice," she scolded.

"Really not," Tara agreed, frowning hard at the space the cake had come from. "Guys, if you don't want to come to the meeting, you don't have to, but you shouldn't act like preschoolers while somebody is --"

And that was where she got cut off by a gooey slice of chocolate cake splatting against her chin. Apparently, the gremlins didn't like lectures any more than they liked long-winded speeches.

"Stop that!" Dolf roared, grabbing at his belt for his bread knife and... finding he hadn't brought it this time. Stupid school weapons locker rules-- "Stop it now or I will stop you--"

Splat.

Karla, still slightly off-kilter from her dream last night looked from the gremlins to her leaders and back. Clearly, words weren't going to work. All right, fine. Fire with fire, then. Taking what was left from her plate--what? she'd been hungry!--she threw it back at the gremlin who'd flung cake at Dolf.

Her victory was short-lived as two more slices when flying towards her face. And then, the air was full of flung cake and frosting, lobbed at anyone and everyone.

Cake fight!

Cake? Cake. It wasn't as if Kennedy needed that sort of confectionery incentive to show up for these meetings, but cake was definitely a bonus. Not to mention a nice distraction from the lack of news coming from the Hellmouth this week ~~because I cross-checked original airdates and we're up to "The Body" and ow no~~.

Do battle with the gremlins! Mod away.

Cally was going to stay well out of it, until a gremlin with a slingshot lobbed not just a piece of cake, but a corner piece with all the extra frosting, right into the middle of her ~~perm~~ curls.

"...You shot my HAIR."

It was on now.

Stephanie ~~unlike another Robin~~ hadn't grown up on the street, and wasn't in the habit of hoarding food, but she'd gone through a few stretches of having to make do with peanut butter and jelly because good old Daddy dearest was playing fast and loose with their meager finances, so wasting food didn't go down very well with her at all.

"That was perfectly good cake!" she yelled at the top of her lungs, taking off after a gremlin.

Of course, she wasn't about to throw food, and she didn't have any of her equipment on her, so this would go really well, wouldn't it?

When they ping their cake-covered butts in.

Raven wasn't so sure she could graduate so quickly from pillow fighting to cake fighting, so she was keeping her distance from the gremlins and their yummy delicious weaponry.

At least it was good cake?

Dolf was so, so annoyed he didn't have his knife on him.

Or he would be, if he wasn't busy ducking under a table while wiping cake from his face.

Of course Tara had been wearing a white sweater today. She wondered why she didn't know any witchy stain removal techniques as she tried to duck before too much cake hit her.

Actually, Karla found that taking out her residual dream-frustrations out on the goblins was doing wonders for her mood. Yes, she was covered almost head to toe with delicious cake, but...wait. Was there a downside?

Raven was scowling and trying to get some vanilla frosting out of her hair, keeping a wary eye out for further attacks as she approached Karla. "Is everything all right?" she asked her friend, picking up something, well, beneath the cake.

"There is cake," Karla informed her, "in my bra."

Apparently, she was going to try to dodge questions today, too.

"I am certain we will all need to do laundry and shower after this," Raven said, frowning at the cakey mess around them.

"But there is something else bothering you," she added. DUN LIE TO THE EMPATH, KARLA.

"I didn't sleep well last night," Karla admitted, fidgeting a little. Because of the aforesaid cake, surely, and not because of the dreams. That would be ridiculous. "I'm a little off my game."

"Is there anything I can do to help?" Raven asked. Because she was Raven. "If there is some physical issues troubling you that is hindering your sleep, surely I can heal it. If it is dreams, I may be of aid there as well."

Moreso than she wanted to admit because as of late she'd found herself wandering into other people's dreams without intending to.

"I don't think so," Karla said, shaking her head a bit. "I don't remember much, just fragments. It was a Black Widow dream, but of a future so far off and distant, everything seemed misty and unreal."
