It was with morbid fascination that Peter Bishop found himself on a common room couch watching professional wrestling on the television.

He was honestly confused a bit.

"Wait, there's only one of these companies still around?" he said, having tried to flip between the old feuding promotions' shows. "Huh. Guess the future has its other improvements too."

Yes, he was talking to himself. He had extra popcorn and soda for anyone else interested in seeing oiled-up men in tights wrestle around a ring.

"I'm pretty sure I did the same thing I did every summer as a kid," she admitted, "but some things stick out. I can remember most of my childhood -- just not the particulars. Like most memories."

"It's kind of like that," Peter said. "Except a lot of it is really blurry, or I don't remember it. I know that when I was nine I wanted to grow up to be a brontosaurus. I know I used to do coin tricks... still do, actually. But if I really think about it, I don't know anything specific for about the first eight years of my life. Nothing sticks out at all." He shrugged. "Though now I'm starting to worry. I just thought that was normal."

"Not for me," she said carefully. "Maybe I just have a really good memory, though."

She didn't really think that.

"Huh," Peter said. "Maybe I should see if one of the mind readers can take a peek in the old brainpan. See if they can dig something up. Of course, now I'm worried that I might be repressing something huge."

And that worried him more than the idea of just having a lousy memory of his childhood.
