Fifth floor common room [evening]

Rilla had not turned the television on when she'd come into the common room. She was far too engrossed in the magazine she'd just discovered.

Look out, world. Rilla Blythe had discovered Cosmo quizzes.

If only she understood half of the things the questions were asking about!

"They do, actually. Although I don't know anyone outside of a TV show who does," Scully admitted, hitting the buttons on the microwave. "They're selling all those make up and clothing products; they sincerely hope someone will try to wear two dozen of their advertiser's options at once." She smiled slightly. "Which part is giving you trouble?"

Scully facepalmed. "Oh God. No. Don't take those seriously." A sudden memory of Mulder trying to get her to participate in one of those had her saying, "They're only good for flirting."

"Some of those questions get very personal, about things like 'what do you find attractive,'" Scully said, trying to be diplomatic. "Or, well. Explicit."

The bell on the microwave dinged, and Scully pulled out the bag, shaking it up to mix the popcorn. "You'll know it when you see it. 'How do you know when a guy likes you' is a classic. The others get more embarrassing. 'Are you a good girl or a bad girl? Are you bad enough?'"

Scully ripped open the bag, and shook popcorn into the bowl, giving Rilla sympathetic look. "Depends on what kind of guy you want to date, probably. You may not want to be bad at all."

Scully paused in this to say, "From what I've seen, no. They just lie about that to lure you in. Novels are-- what novels are you reading?" she asked, curious, and popping a piece of popcorn in her mouth.

"Ohhh," Scully said, enlightened. And trying not to laugh. "Well, exactly. How many shepherdesses get knocked unconscious in real life?"

"Is that what they're getting hit with?" Scully does laugh this time. "As far as I know, it's not as common a job as it used to be. Or meeting Earls, for that matter."

Scully bit her lip, because Rilla was so young, and cute about this, and being careful not to hurt her feelings didn't diminish the amusement. "I've only met Prince Alexander. You've met a few more?"

"Of Camelot?" Scully checked, impressed in spite of herself. Although still skeptical. "That's quite a few centuries for him to travel." She smiled at Rilla's enthusiasm. "You're a fan, I take it?"

Scully smiled a little ruefully, and said lightly, "Well, I always felt a little sorry for King Arthur in that situation, although plenty of the other knights have happy endings. And the Grail story is beautiful." Hopeless quests, yes.

Scully's grinned back and said, "Oh, certainly! It'll make everyone happier in the long run if some noble lady does him that favor!"

That was why it had to happen. Also, Scully couldn't quite believe in King Arthur.

Foolish Scully.

"I'm sure the next time he visits, someone will be able to introduce him around..."
