Fifth floor common room [evening]

Rilla had not turned the television on when she'd come into the common room. She was far too engrossed in the magazine she'd just discovered.

Look out, world. Rilla Blythe had discovered Cosmo quizzes.

If only she understood half of the things the questions were asking about!

Bod was going to be no help in the understanding of Cosmo quizzes but he was a little restless tonight so getting out of his room seemed like a good idea.

"Good evening, Rilla," he said while hoping he didn't interrupt too much. "I hope you're well."

"Very," Rilla said with a slight blush to her cheeks. "Good evening to you too, Bod."

"I apologize for interrupting your reading," he said, gesturing to the magazine as he passed by to get something to drink. "I hope I didn't make you lose your place or lose your train of thought."

"Oh, it's nothing for class," she said. "The magazines in my time don't have quizzes."

"Quizzes?" he asked, snagging a bottle of water before returning to take a seat. "Like...academic quizzes?"

Bruce was slightly surprised to hear the sounds of people but no television in the common room when he walked past. So of course he had to stop in and see what was going on.

"Reading something interesting?" he asked.

Rilla showed him the cover of her magazine with some actress she'd never heard of on it. "Have you read this before?"

"Cosmo?" Bruce asked. "I'm not really the target demographic."

Which didn't exactly answer the question, Bruce.

"I'm not sure I am either," Rilla admitted. "I don't speak this version of English."

"Oh? What's the article you're reading about?" Bruce asked.

Scully needed some distraction after too long in front of the computer; looking for food was a good start.

She noticed Rilla as she came in, and said, "Hello. I'm making popcorn, would you like some?"

"Oh, yes please!" Rilla exclaimed, putting her magazine aside. "Would you like help?"

Scully paused, not sure how Rilla could help-- it was rather simple-- but not wanting to discourage the girl, said, "Could you get the bowls and butter?" as she pulled out a bag of microwave popcorn. "What were you reading there?"

"Cosmo," Rilla said, going to the cupboard. "Have you heard of it?"

Scully's expression was a combination of guilty embarrassment and sardonic amusement. "Yes. Well. Sometimes. The fashion commentaries are occasionally interesting. Scientifically."

Elphaba was on the 'wrong' floor, of course, but found it ever so confusing that she'd not found an apple in her own floor's common room. So she'd come up here.

When she saw Rilla engrossed with some sort of reading material, she had to come over.

"May I interrupt?" she asked, pleasantly.

"Please!" Rilla replied, sitting up.

"I don't want to pull you away from whatever it is you are reading for long," Elphaba said. "But I had to ask what it is that has you so keen. My curiosity is getting the best of me, I'm afraid."

"It's a magazine," Rilla said, "but very unlike the ones I have from home, which are rather geared toward flower arranging."

"And this one is... flowerless?" Elphaba said. "I always rather liked poppy fields, but I doubt that has anything to do with this. What is the magazine about, then?"

William, meanwhile, wandered in to the room rather engrossed in a magazine of his own.

...it was PC Magazine rather than Cosmo, but still.

"Good evening, all," he greeted the room at large, friendly smile widening slightly when he noticed Rilla.

"Good evening, Mr. Murdoch," Rilla said, smiling back at him. "Have you found something good to read as well?"

He held up the magazine in his hand so she could see. "Just a bit of research," he admitted. "For a potential purchase."

"Let me guess," Rilla said. "A PC?"

"I suppose the name of the publication doesn't leave much to the imagination, does it?" William mused. "But yes, you're correct. I know it's not something I'll be able to return, er, home, with, but- it could be useful, while I'm here."
