Lawn Outside the Dorms [Sunday Afternoon]
Chuck was not a fighter, by any stretch of the imagination, and usually spent these invasions safely holed up indoors if at all possible, leaving the heroics to the people who liked swords, or could punch someone out without even trying. It was better that way.
This invasion however? He was in his element. Of course he was. It only took one restart at the dorms lobby yesterday to figure out the lay of the rules and since then he hadn't had much trouble hording coins, dodging turtle shells and jumping on toothy mushrooms.
He wasn't venturing far from the dorms, simply because he didn't need to to play at this. He'd set his sights on clearing the lawn outside the dorms entrance. Waging war on the creatures that dared to come near him here was good enough for him.
... And maybe he liked the option of running back indoors when spiky balls or turtle shells flew at his head.
Still. He was helping!
[[Open, should anyone else who can still leave the dorms want to join his ground defense.]]

"... Things got proactive." 'Things' being the little mushroomy dudes. "They seem less cute today." Maybe because they were aiming for the dorms, rather than holding to their meandering patterns of yesterday.

He shook it off a moment later. "So what are we doing?" he asked. "Are you fighting them?"
no subject
"But they go... somewhere, when you do. Which I guess is a good thing?"

"Why do I get the feeling I should've paid more attention to my brothers video games when I had the chance?" There was a hi in there somewhere.

"It's mostly a case of jumping on things," he told her. "Except things with spikes on, because ow." Or he assumed ow. The one time he'd 'died' it was because he threw a shell at a wall only to have it bounce back and knock his feet out from under him. Landing on his ass in the dorm lobby was not his proudest moment.

"Jumping on things. Okay, I think I can do that," she grinned, glad that it didn't seem so hard to do. She had a feeling she was going to enjoy that. "Avoid anything with spikes. You think zapping those things with lightning might take care of them?"
It was just a thought.

Pointing her wand at one of creatures with spikes, Alex sent a bolt of lightning towards it. Hopefully, the bolt did what it was supposed to and hit the thing. Otherwise, oops?

"You--" Oh yeah, that was lightning, wow "... I did not know you did that. That is very cool."

"Then again, he'd probably be surprised that I'm teaching myself." Yeah, she wouldn't have done that a few years ago.

That would be Justin, all the way.

"But hey, we are still cool... Especially you with all the--" he made a sort of zappy motion at the nearest 'shroom before realising just how close it had got and scooting backwards.

Then again, she could some without it, too. "Those things are brave, aren't they?" She was tempted to hit it with lightning but it didn't look as threatening without spikes.
no subject
"Even with the teeth." Which looked sharp.
no subject
Huh.
"It'd be a strange pet, for sure."

The Paragoombas were rather annoying, though. He'd already been sent back to the lobby twice after getting dive-bombed. "Looks like they're getting pretty vicious today," he shouted at Chuck
and anyone else who was around.no subject
"And... buzzy," he agreed, shading his eyes as he looked at the sudden variety of things speeding around above them. "Wow."

"But hey, this is better than some, right?" Less gross, less disturbing and he wasn't likely to have traumatic dreams for weeks after. It was an improvement as far as he was concerned.

"There were giant spiders?" If so, he was glad he missed that... Okay, yes, he was a massive girl when it came to certain things. This was not news.

He looked around for anything that could be used against ol' Spiny as the shield finally faded away.

"I don't think I'd be able to sleep so well after that," he shared, gingerly picking up the shell.

"... Your what?"

"Over this?" This was pretty mild, in comparison to some issues they dealt with. "Really? So how'd the spider thing go down with him?"

It just seemed like he was fairly capable of looking after himself.

No need to bring up exploding planets, especially when there was a flying Koopa coming right at him.
