Lawn Outside the Dorms [Sunday Afternoon]

Chuck was not a fighter, by any stretch of the imagination, and usually spent these invasions safely holed up indoors if at all possible, leaving the heroics to the people who liked swords, or could punch someone out without even trying. It was better that way.

This invasion however? He was in his element. Of course he was. It only took one restart at the dorms lobby yesterday to figure out the lay of the rules and since then he hadn't had much trouble hording coins, dodging turtle shells and jumping on toothy mushrooms.

He wasn't venturing far from the dorms, simply because he didn't need to to play at this. He'd set his sights on clearing the lawn outside the dorms entrance. Waging war on the creatures that dared to come near him here was good enough for him.

... And maybe he liked the option of running back indoors when spiky balls or turtle shells flew at his head.

Still. He was helping!

[[Open, should anyone else who can still leave the dorms want to join his ground defense.]]

"I'll try not to get hit then," Alex replied.

"Jumping on things. Okay, I think I can do that," she grinned, glad that it didn't seem so hard to do. She had a feeling she was going to enjoy that. "Avoid anything with spikes. You think zapping those things with lightning might take care of them?"

It was just a thought.

"Worth trying once," Alex agreed. "You might want to stand back, just to be safe." Not to say her aim was bad, but it was better to be safe than sorry. It was a motto her dad lived by.

Pointing her wand at one of creatures with spikes, Alex sent a bolt of lightning towards it. Hopefully, the bolt did what it was supposed to and hit the thing. Otherwise, oops?

"Surprise?" Alex probably should've let him in on the secret before now. "I'm a wizard in training, so I know some nifty spells for occasions such as these. Or invasions in general."

"Yeah, neither am I," Alex agreed. Especially when it meant she'd been transferred to a wasteland. Never again, thank you. "Usually, I'm in the library trying to find out what's going on, not taking on these things first hand."

"I've got a wizard's version of the internet to research stuff," Alex explained. "And there's lots of things to learn from at the Magic Box, so I get by. Back home, my dad used to teach me. Not so much anymore," she chuckled.

"Then again, he'd probably be surprised that I'm teaching myself." Yeah, she wouldn't have done that a few years ago.

"Thanks," Alex smiled, appreciating the compliment. "Let's just say I'm not the one normally known as an achiever in my family."

That would be Justin, all the way.

"Didn't you know? Cool's my middle name," Alex joked. "Well, it's one of a few things I can do with this," she gestured with her wand.

Then again, she could some without it, too. "Those things are brave, aren't they?" She was tempted to hit it with lightning but it didn't look as threatening without spikes.

"It is, isn't it? Alex studied the mushroom as it moved about. "I'm imagining what it would be like if someone kept one, and it wouldn't attack them every five seconds."

Huh.

"It'd be a strange pet, for sure."
