Fire Drill, Outside the Dorms, Oh Dear Lord How Is This O'Clock Wednesday Night

Fandom lay peaceful in the night, recovering from its latest brush with invasion. It had reached such an hour that even the teal deer slept soundly in the woods, and the crickets had given up on chirping to go play Texas Hold-'Em in the caves in the cliffs just off the Preserve.

The rain started almost tentatively: a few drops of dew that wrestled loose from the grass and gently made their way upwards. But soon they multiplied, soon they went faster. Soon the dark skies were full of water raining upwards, coagulating into clouds far up above.

And then...

...and then the fire drill alarms went off in the dorms.

Sorry, kids.

Luke came up from behind Percy and wrapped his wet arms around the other boy. "Keep me dry."

All Luke really had to do was touch Percy and he'd be dry but that didn't stop Percy from leaning back against him and settling his arms over Luke's.

"This is freaking weird even for this place," he said once he was sure they were both staying dry. "Isn't the water supposed to come from clouds. Kinda makes me wonder what's underneath the frigging ground."

"Well I know from previous bad experience that there's machinery under there," Luke said, kissing Percy's cheek and nuzzling against the same spot as a thank you. "Maybe whomever is responsible for that is pms'ing or something."

"Wonderful," Percy said though he couldn't sound sarcastic when Luke was being cuddly and affectionate like that. Damn him. "At least you weren't sleeping naked?"

"If I had been sleeping naked I would have made time to put on pants," he said. "People don't get free shows from me."

"Don't tempt someone to pants you." That someone being Percy but...he wouldn't do that right now. Too comfortable and stuff. Maybe later when there was privacy. "Or give you a wedgie."

"And here I thought you'd be appreciative of my modesty," Luke said, sighing.

"Don't worry, I am," he admitted, turning his head and kissing the underside of Luke's chin. "I was just teasing you. I've been half expecting to see at least one naked person because they were too drunk/too stoned/too tired to remember clothes."

"It's Wednesday night, anybody who was too drunk to put on pants might need an intervention," Luke said, smiling. "If it were Friday or Saturday night then, yeah, this fire drill might be more R-rated."

"Wow, you're making yourself sound so old right now, Luke," Percy joked, shaking his head. "You have a bedtime and everything now!"

"Oh don't even start with me," he said, rolling his eyes. "Like you'd ever go out and get drunk or do drugs any night, much less a Wednesday night."

"Well, I wouldn't do the drugs but I could go out and get drunk on like a Tuesday!" Percy said, making a face. "I'm not old like you are and don't need at least eight hours of sleep to not be a cranky jerk in the morning."

"Bullshit, you are way crankier than I am in the mornings," he said, kissing Percy's cheek again. "And you don't like drinking all that much, if I recall correctly."

"Maybe I just haven't found something I like yet," Percy pointed out, shrugging. "What we had last time wasn't all that good."

"You don't seem opposed to the spiked punch at dances," Luke noted. "Maybe you need to try more fruity tasting stuff."

"I know what's going to come out of your mouth next so don't say it or I'll let you get wet," Percy said, shaking his head.

"I wasn't gonna say anything!" Luke insisted. "You always think the worst of me."

"Oh, you'd get there if you followed that train of thought," Percy said, shaking his head. "And I know what it would be and I'm just stopping it now."

Luke sighed. "You don't let me have any fun."

"You don't deserve fun, jerk," Percy decided. "You've got a devious brain."

"Well that's not my fault," he said. "I'm supposed to be devious and tricky. It's in my genes."

"That doesn't mean I have to let you be devious and tricky," Percy pointed out with a shake of his head. "I can stop it when I see it."

"Fine, fine," he said, pulling Percy against him a little more. "I suppose you put a stop to my deviousness this round, brat. Happy?"

"Happier than most of these people are," Percy said, sounding smug about that. "I should feel sympathetic but I don't. Not really."

"Wow, so mean," Luke teased. "And I would think you'd be looking for reasons for me not to call you a honey badger."
